It's BACK TO THE FUTURE with Bio Based USA as they present the one and only Sandusky Speedway King of the Wings Open Wheel Extravaganza on Wednesday, July 16th. This will be the very first major event in many years to feature both the Supermodifieds and Sprint Cars running together. It’s a one-time event showcasing the fastest short track racers in the country. If you miss this one you will miss it forever. Finally the world will know which racecar is the fastest in competition. We have received several calls with suggestions including an hour long very informative session with a car owner. The concerns were how much to win, what's the purse and let's talk about that tire rule. The answers are that the winner of this event won't make as much as if he had won the Hi-Miler but it will be more than what an ISMA driver makes at a regular event. Here’s your purse: 1-$5000, 2-$3500, 3-$3000, 4-$2500, 5-$2000, 6-$1500, 7-$1250 and $1000 for 8th place back to 24th place. The complete purse is rather stout due to the fact that if you make it to the feature you are guaranteed $1000. The only exception would be someone who decides to start and park the minute he gets the green. Remember this if you remember nothing else, unless you are involved in a major accident at the beginning of the race and can't continue you must make at least five competitive laps to get paid anything. Then there is the tire rule. One racer wanted to run American Racer tires. That answer is NO! The traditional tire for both Sprints and Supers is Hoosier and that isn't changing. The whole idea is to keep costs down and buying eight tires for one race just doesn't cut it. With that in mind there will be a four tire rule. Along with that the Supermodifieds will use the MSA tire rule which is the same as all the other sanctioning bodies running Supers. The Sprints will conform to either the Auto Value and/or Buckeye Super Sprint tire rules. So let’s make this simple, there will be NO weight rule, no left side rule, no wing rule, no engine rule and the only tech inspection is for safety. There will be practice on Tuesday evening July 15th with old tires and then qualifying, heat races and a fifty lap Feature Event on Wednesday with four new tires. There is no fuel stop for a 50-lap race but if a major incident stops the show for a while the race will go red. Remember, any rule made must benefit the Supers and the Sprints equally. There was a question about show-up money. Yes, not a lot but enough so you don't go home broke. Remember, we pay with cash immediately after the show. You can call Kevin Ruic at any time at 440-376-3919 to either ask a question or discuss a suggestion.

This has all the makings of a great show. The advantage is to the Super-Lightweight Sprints. The kicker is the 50 lap feature-advantage back to the Supers.Should be an interesting event. The day after the Silver Cup. Looks like I've got a race week in July!!

I actually don't see one posted. I'm assuming there is but I really don't know. I'm talking about the Silver Cup.

Once again, this is going to be a good event to attend.NO ENGINE rules! NO WEIGHT rules-just fuel and tires. Some of the Sprint people are already clamoring for a shorter A-Main. No way-50 laps! The Midget tank won't work. Going to have to go easy on the soft tires too. This is what open comp rules are! The much heavier Supers on the harder tires are going to be a big factor as the night goes on.Throw in the "home field" advantage to he MSA Supers and the "store bought cars" will have there work cut out for them.Should be a great race. Even some West Coast cars are coming. If you can make one this year-make this one!

The "No Engine Rules" is wrong. According to what I read-engines are limited to 500 cubic inches.Tire rules are whatever your sanctioning body's are.Rear engine and even 4 wheel drive cars are legal for this event!!

I am waiting for a 500 C.I. aluminum motored sprinter with a 3 element Super wing on the pneumatic cylinders. That will be impressive to watch. Oh, I do plan to make this show it will be like when the supers truly were run what you brung.

Why do I like racing ? Well the colors are bright and there is a lot of movement, so it holds my attention.

A 500 c.i. Sprinter would be the top of the food chain in H/P. There are several 440+ inch Aluminum small block Supers in Western USA. A Western Car(Super) would be tough to beat-with no weight rule.WOO type Sprints weigh in around 1150 lbs. and would be hard to beat-but-the Main will be 50 laps! Must run the bigger tank. One thing to remember is that-3 of the best pavement racers in the nation will be there. D.J.Shullick,Charlie Schultz and Trent Stephens. They all run Big-Block Supers and have thousands of laps around Sandusky. No matter what the car combination is-you have to out drive these 3 guys! The Bodnar# 94 of D.J.Shullick previewed last year and it was a Rocketship. He's gotta be the favorite. I'll be there. Gotta give Kevin Ruick one more hurrah! Then he can retire. He and his Limo driver can drive down to the Lake Erie piers and go fishing every day! On Saturday they can go to Painesville and watch the Figure 8 races!!
