to stay a racetrack, they must run one show this year. and heard jen will do just that.......one show. just what heard.......no for sure.....
That's interesting. If the new kart track is not ready because of all the bad weather, I wonder if a kart race would satisfy the legal needs to stay a track.

franny did care about his locals, and paid them good....but, and this is my opinion. he was dying, and knew it. at that point, he was paying out huge amounts some nights. i hear the taxes weren't paid, and he went all in paying out more than he made. and didn't care what he paid out, because you can't get anything out of a deceased man..he noo longer had any worries, that the family now must deal with. that's my story, or opinion...Franny always had the lowest admission price in the area

meckeans switched too Saturdays so why cant stateline do Friday nites? Probly get a good field of super lates right???
Super late model tracks in the northern tier do not survive on Friday nights. Stateline wouldn't either, especially with all the uncertainty surrounding the place.
It's a shame the rumored Ron Davies deal to buy the place didn't happen. That's a dude with money to spend and a passion for racing for sure.

he very good at letting people see the franny he wanted seen not the real "man" he was. He despised driver that left for greener pastures and all but told one(I wont give names but i was there and heard his comments) in a drivers meeting to go f himself. this driver left to run a mac/stars schedule. the families did business together both racing and non-racing as well.i'd disagree, the racers were always well paid when Franny ran the place.

he didn't pay taxes for years, I watched them carry money in trash bags out of that place, money wasnever counted.franny did care about his locals, and paid them good....but, and this is my opinion. he was dying, and knew it. at that point, he was paying out huge amounts some nights. i hear the taxes weren't paid, and he went all in paying out more than he made. and didn't care what he paid out, because you can't get anything out of a deceased man..he noo longer had any worries, that the family now must deal with. that's my story, or opinion...

I remember that race well and yes Fran called all the shots and spanky was the puppet. I have issues with guys who feel like you should be loyal to them no matter what even if you have a chance to spread your wings and make a name.Franny was a business man first, he took care of his regular "loyal" drivers. If it benefited him he would do what it took to make a buck off of it. In 2000 we raced super lates at MCR on sat. and eriez on sun. He came up to my driver and asked if he was going to race weekly at eriez, he told him to talk to me i was the car owner. Franny walked over to me and said hey there young man whats your plans for this season? Me being a 27 year kid at the time told him MCR sat and Eriez sunday. He asked if i would consider running stateline on sat. I told him i had sponsor commitments to MCR and I wanted to race Eriez every sunday. He tipped his hat back reached in his pocket pulled out a wad of cash, counted out 5 $100 bills handed them to me said nice to meet you thanks for comming and will be great to have you for the rest of the year. I found that quite interesting that he would give me money to come to his track as thanks, but in reality it was money well spent because im sure he got that back 3 fold with pit entrances, tire sales and fuel sales the rest of the year. He was like frank sinatra he did it "his way".
On the flip side if he didnt like you or you were an outsider it was a tough place to crack. His right hand man for years was Toby Jordan who sells parts and tires at the track. Chub Frank, Matt Urban and Rich Gardner have all driven for him with great success. Around 1999 or 2000 matt left to run the STARS series i believe. We were at Stateline at the stars show urban started on the front row and we were mid pack at the start. Matt got jumped bad on the start but fell back to third, in the process of passing for second they got together and he spun in turn 4. From where i was watching the starter pulled the yellow flag out to wave, I watched him reach for his headphones and put the yellow away and let the race continue for the last 7 laps with matt sitting partially on the track in harms way, while i presume franny told him to leave him sit.
So the moral to my stories is it just depended on who you were
I was also there on a 4th of july night when our truck wouldn't start and my buddy who was friends with the seaman family asked franny personally if could take the starter out of the track packer and bring it back to him at the corry auction and franny said it would cost him $50 bucks. Ted Kachinski's dad called his son in law at 11 on sat night and had him run to the part store he owned and get us a starter an dbring it to the track. that's good people.
