Just curious what everyones opinions maybe Mileys will look at this and listen lol, the stands boards are deteriorating someone is going to fall threw and get badly hurt. The track leaving debris on track until the leader Justin hits it and robbed him of a win, and could of possibly robbed someone of there life or of having a severe injury. Nice weekend hardly any other tracks were running you would've thought you would've had more car counts and fans after a long winter. Is the Mileys poor decisions reason for low counts and fans. Unfortunately it might take someone either killed or severely injured. By then to late and track will have to shut down. This is why I don't go there often, I live 10 mins from the track rather drive to lernerville. PPMS does have some good racing to through the different classes.

Ron Hall got hit in the head, hard with that piece of steel that laid in the main grove for a bunch of laps, split his helmet open from what I was told.Saw ambulance crews tending to him... Track crew called in debris in 1/2 .....and order given on the track radio was to keep going! Hope Ron is ok today!

The car counts weren't as bad as you make them sound. They had 13 late models, granted a few were junk like the B8 and 44 but late model car counts are down everywhere. PPMS will be lucky to get 10 every week. In the crates you had a good field and a few cars are not ready yet so once they get out there you should be getting close to a full field . They actually had more stocks then usual. As far as the bleachers go you are correct, they are in sorry shape and really do need some TLC. The crowd was not surprising, last year they had small crowds weekly except for the Monster Truck show and the Pittsburgher. They stopped Sunday rain dates because 50 people showed up on a sunday rain date. At this point I think the track is at a cross roads. They need to figure a way out to get more people there. They also need to pay more to win in SLM.

My personal opinion is two things lead to less fans and back gate at PPMS: Eliminating BYOB in the stands for Ed's Pub. Dropping the emods. The BYOB eliminated the casual fan who liked to carry their own case of beer in and watch a night of racing. Not going to say something stupid like you can only enjoy racing drunk, and I understand the liabilities of open booze there, but just being honest. I used to have 10 or so friends who would come because they could have a few beers, watch racing for $10 to get in at the time and then go out in the parking lot or North Star after but now won't spend $3 a can for beer on top of $15 to get in. The emods always had 12-15 cars for $250 to win. PPMS dropped them and added the money to the Sportsman, which was nice, but the rules were years behind other tracks so the cars wouldn't come, even for $400 to win. So the emods moved on, the Sportsman field shrank in lieu of the increased purse, and here we are today. I think the racing and the track itself are the best it's been in 10 years. Just need the fans and some new cars to give the place a shot.

i know alot of work was done to the track surface but it actually ruined all the work that was done in turn 3 to smooth it out. i think its now worse then it was in previous seasons over there. im hoping it will get smoothed out for next week because cars are jumping through the air and cars are getting torn up over there.

This is what I was talking about, I agree with Vince on the beer and racing has been good, but they need to be a little concerned with safety of fans and drivers.

I don't think smokey cares, I think he cares more about getting through the night and getting out of there, anytime I've ever talked to smokey all I've ever gotten was a attitude, last year I asked a simple question and he went off for no reason. And theirs no reason the boards on the stands should be as bad as they are, I'm not saying replace them all in one year but if you would replace a section each season it wouldn't be so bad but they won't do it.

I have not really seen where beer sales have hurt Lernerville that much. Sharon used to get great crowds (when they had a show worth going to up there to see), and they sell their own beer. MCS routinely has three times the people as PPMS and they don't allow alcohol on the property. I think it's a cop out. Crate LM's will not save the place, either. They havn't had good Super numbers down there for a couple of years now. If the owners thought they could dump the SLM's and their purse and have crates as their headliner, they would have done it already. Even though PPMS appears to be relying mostly on the back gate, they are smart enough to realize that the small crowds they get now will be even less without Supers. As far as dropping E-Mods, well that could be part of the problem with the crowd, but I can't really see that, either. I've belonged to this board for the better part of 14 years, and the complaints about PPMS all have one common denominator; the ownership. How many times have one of the owners been quoted as saying, "If you don't like it, go somewhere else"? Well, it seems as if most of the fans and competitors have taken that advice. And IMHO, only one of two events or, series of events will get them back. The track gets sold to someone that really wants to make it a place that Pittsburgh can be proud of with a program to go along with it, or the current owners decide to perform the aforementioned themselves. People have been complaining about the same things for years. The terrible bleachers. Exposed bolts on front stretch wall. Lack of paint on the wall. Spotty, at times, track prep. The jacked up back gate for anything special on the card, etc. Other than the track prep, most of what gets bitched about on here doesn't change. I feel bad, I really do, for those of you that love the place. It is to you what Lernerville is to me. My question is this; how much worse do things have to get down there before the place either closes or the owners finally start making improvements before you all quit going or racing there?

I agree blaming the beer thing is a cop out. As far as the emod logic, that might have gotten more money in the back gate but I do not think it made more fans come. On a normal Saturday show, about 80 % of the crowd departs after the late model feature. Most of the reaming people there are probably friends and family of drivers in the lower divisions. I was shocked to see they will try a 100 lap crate race on a sunday night. that race will be hard pressed to draw fans on a sunday especially with no late models. One move that needs looked at is possibly dropping a class and adding more money to the late model purse. These guys are spending way to much money for 1100 or 1200 to win.

My opinion, I thought the place would be closing. With the sale of motordrome and some property I think that would free up some cash for Miley motor sports and they may upgrade some. Running a dirt track now days isn't easy. As far as stuff on the track. I think they worry about getting the show over with as quick as possible so debris and cars sit on the track till the last second.

The crowds at PPMS weren't great as it was, then they went an took away one perk (byob) and it absolutely did affect their attendance. You can't compare it to Lernerville because they always had good crowds and any fans they might have lost would be offset by new ones. PPMS has had declining attendance since the mid to late 90s. I'm not saying it would now BRING fans to the track if they reinstated BYOB. I'm just saying it didnt help keep the average Joe six pack fan from Burgettstown. And the emods mostly helped the back gate, yes. I'm not saying they brought hundreds of fans with them. But the 10-15 people JE Stalder and Clayton Kennedy for example brought are missed when you don't replace them or add a new support class and they were paying $30 to get in the pits.

I believe awhile back when Matt still posted here he said that they seen if the program ran later then 10 pm that the people would start leaving. I for one never went to the races saying man I hope the show gets done as soon as possible. I much rather the show last a good 3 hours because I enjoyed being at the track with my old buddies.

Vince I do agree that Miley cut mods and thought he would add that money to the stocks and get more cars but that move did not pan out as everyone knows the Lernerville cars do not come to PMS. If what you say is true then it sounds like the mods paid their own purse at the backdate so not sure why Miley gave them the ax.

after hanna got taken out she went to smokey to talk about it he told her to calm down but she would be kicked out if she didnt just deal with it. i am not part of hannas crew and i dont talk to her much. just going on what smokey said and how he acts anymore. maybe its time to get a new guy in with more patience and that cares. please dont tell me if you can do better do it, just saying about his attitude dealing with the drivers. i think bobby neil would be good at it, get some fresh ideas in there. hell i go to the races to get away from my wife.lol. i could stay at home and get treated like shit and save the 30 bucks.

I agree, his best days as a track steward are behind him, great guy, just burnt out. Sadly tech is pretty much the same deal, great guy too. Time for these guys to put their slippers on. Bring the next generation in. B)
