As we were leaving during late model feature my friend stepped on a board and it broke.LUCKLIY it hit another plank and only fell about 6" .we went to tell management BUT they WERE to busy wTching races . Lernerville is becoming a DUMP! Not ONE thing was done to facility on the off season. They could not even clean around outsude of concession stand. I was just saying something to friend about boards on stands in turn one as we watched from different areas.

This is kind of ironically funny to me as I always hear about how bad PPMS grandstands are and the last two events at Lernerville I personally saw one and now read about someone falling through the stands there. After using all of the restrooms there during the long Stampede weekend, reading this, and hearing about the dust last night I wonder how many rose colored glasses fans look through when they describe that place in comparison to other tracks.

I tweeted the track as it happened, I was sitting right in front of the guys. Being a towering fellow, I always sit on the mounting points of those bleachers. Here's a picture.

Write WRG and threaten to lawyer up. It's probably the only way they will wake up and fix them right. One broke the same way at the Firecracker last year.

Don Martin had the bleachers painted before every season, and any bad boards were replaced. I'd have to guess that that hasn't been done since WRG bought the place.

General admission seats in turn four were painted last year and a few boards were replaced. I was even gonna offer to paint them for free but figured they could afford to pay someone to do it

Don Martin would turn over in his grave if he could see the condition of "his" racetrack. The shape of the stands is deplorable. Lots of rotting boards waiting for an accident to happen. Looks to me like they are going to take as much money as possible out of the place with the least amount of money possible put back into the place. Then what happens, happens... Just does not look like a long term thing for the WRG. Going to drive the place into the ground. Better get a crew and get some paint on those stands before it is too late.

You mean he would turn over in his grave if he could see that his family cashed out on his track instead of running it to his standards?! Not long term? They're going on 10 years at the place, They've expanded the pits, put in state of the art lighting, expanded the vending area for big events, built a souvenir stand and beer stands, remodeled the pit bathrooms, demolished the old building by the road, made a viewing/camping area in turn one and upgraded the entire PA/sound system in the pits and grandstands. If anything, they've done a much better job renovating the joint than Martin's family did in the time between his passing and his family cashing out. They've also created the Firecracker and Steel City Stampede events, plus they haven't cut divisions like every other track in the region has. All of this in an economy in recession and on the verge of depression.

No, it's never going to be like it was when Don owned it. It was his passion, he had money to burn and the undying respect not only of his drivers, sponsors and fans, but of every race track owner and promoter in the country. There might be five owner/promoters in the country over the past 50 years that were on Don's level. Comparing anyone to him is unfair and an unrealistic expectation on your part.

Enjoy what you have. We're exactly one week into the season and you're already pissed off and miserable. Maybe it's not the track, maybe it's you. Just sayin'!

But don't worry, soon enough Lynch, Flinner and Bolland will be back and you can bitch about them instead of planks and smelly bathrooms.

What you have failed to realize here is it was not the fault of Lernerville Mgmt, it was the Racing Gods punishing you for leaving early and not staying to watch the best race of the night - THE STOCK CARS! Next time maybe you will think twice before you chance pissing them off by leaving early!

Do you guys really think Don Martins style of promotion would be as effective in 2014 as it was in 1978 ?? It seems to me the guy at virgina motor speedway takes that approach and never seems to draw a crowd. Times have changed. With that being said I don't believe race tracks should be in the bar business unless it's 2.00 a can like eldora

And like it or not places like eldora , Knoxville , Charlotte and wheatland are the standard on which others are judged not lernerville
