ATTENTION DRIVERS AND FANS:
PRACTICE FOR THIS WEEKEND IS CANCELLED
The winter was hard on not only the track and us, but all of our racers too. We have not been able to get the track ready. We will reevaluate the situation after this weekend and decide on when we will have opening night.

Who knows?  Maybe they saw the full page ad for Jennerstown in the Auto Connection mag.  A very aggressive schedule on Saturday nights.  That could make for a reevaluation of CNB's plans.

The tracks far from ready. Still a lot of loads of clay to be brought in before the first successful race can be held there. Lol. But on a serious note, how can it not be ready? Need some people to sweep it with brooms or what?

Aggresive indeed.

WJAC dedicated a one minute segment during their sports broacast on 4/18 and WTAJ ran a shorter segment today at noon for the open house,

It appears their promotermanship is on top of its game.

Find it quite interesting the way both Clearfield tracks PR/promoters were pushing their tracks on here last year have now gone silent this season....

I thought the exact same thing-I'd love to see the track succeed esp. With all the asphalt haters- why they'd think they'd do better when it was dirt and failed is beyond me. It's a shame Bainey couldn't get the initial plan for the track complete. And as usual you see piss Poor collaboration bw the three asphalt tracks when it comes to scheduling-rules-divisions. Last year there were very promising signs at motordrome with good fan counts and talk of straightening out the divisions. So what do they do- increase prices for parking spots and admissions and confuse drivers with their rules for the divisions and procedural changes...as well as appear to put their focus back on corporate sponsorships/big money (which us all well and good except keeping those sponsors will be difficult with no fans in the seats). Any guy w half a brain who's been around sees this time and time again when they've been around awhile. It appears best signs are at Jennerstown as far as for drivers/teams. They still don't seem to have a working website outside of Facebook which defies logic and fan count hopefully will be pushed by the new owners. I expected car counts to struggle at both tracks as There are just enough guys to field one good track and they are split between two. It didn't take a genius to see this stuff coming. Now I predict some idiot will talk abt how they need to take them back to dirt and/or make a statement bout how if it's so easy you should buy the track....how bout the existing tracks increase open dialogue between themselves and those teams that race there. You have a business where the core customers/fan base(freinds/families if teams/sponsors) and the workers/entertainers(drivers/teams) are one in the same- it only seems logical if everything rides on the service providers(teams). You'd want their suggestions/input. Maybe that'd be too ego deflating for most promoters.

A Successful asphalt track would be great, but to say the track was unsuccessful with dirt on it just makes you sound like an idiot. On dirt there were races that saw people pitting outside the track because there was no more room...... With only 3 classes running. On dirt they packed the place at nearly $30 a head for a WOO show. The next "business decision" made after that was to close the place and then pull the dirt off. Go home CNB, you're drunk!

And before you write me off as just another hater, I've watched a lot of asphalt shows at that track. Clate and Gault and the iceman series ran some good shows. Loved the Yankee Doodle on any surface. Just never had a problem finding a parking spot as a paved track.

You may be right. Clarify something for me? They packed the place on a WEEKLY basis running 3 classes? I didn't know much about the track prior to a few years ago. I would in fact be an idiot to believe the decision to switch from dirt was arbitrary. If the track was making money and the stands were full weekly it would've stayed dirt.

And before you write me off as a dirt hater I attend ppms and used to attend the knob frequently. Woo and other big shows frequently Pull big crowds wherever- the last asphalt track to hold the equivalent in asphalt was Jennerstown and they pulled huge crowds. "go home CNB"- gee that's the support i expected from dirt guys...who sounds like the idiot?

They didn't run weekly dirt, they ran I believe 6 races a year. Worked out perfect because they drew cars from all over. Even the street stocks consistently drew 50 cars for a "regular show". Late models showed up from other states for all shows. Not just the biggest ones. I guarantee they pulled in more money in those 6 races than the place got in 5 years of asphalt in the 2000s

same thing i heard...yes the dirt was bad after one bad winter and it had ruts and was washed away in some spots but they did nothing to stop it and just let it go...always amazes me that they took the undertaking of re-paving everything instead of just bringing in new clay to fix the bad spots

Just to clarify the year Scott Bloomquist won the Yankee doodle and got paid $5000 for the win and $5000 "TOW MONEY" and after all the bills were paid, the owner well over 6 digits in his pocket. So 714D I think the dirt made more money in one race than the entire existence of asphalt!

Jimmr - I really don't think many on here really want to bash an asphalt track, they just want to have back those 4 or 5 shows up on the hill having a great time with friends and families watching some terrific racing. The atmosphere there for big shows rival any crown jewel dirt late model event in the country with the exception of Eldora. PennL8Fan can back that up.

Good post.  I like the asphalt, but I do miss those couple big shows a year on the dirt.  On a weekly basis, I don't think I ever saw a full field of 24 cars in any division.  The specials only schedule definitely drew in the crowds, I even talked to central pa sprint car fans that skipped speedweek and keystone cup shows to come to CPS to watch late models, that doesn't happen often.  When they were charging $15 for a $5000 to win late model special, it was one of the best deals around and you got a $1000 to win street stock special along with it.  I definitely miss those events!

I hope they can figure something out, but I don't see any type of weekly racing succeeding on the asphalt, there just isn't enough local support for it.
