I hate to be negative, but That sounds about right...I wasn't there, but I heard only 3 late models finished, 2 on the lead lap.....same deal with the Street stocks...doesn't look good for asphalt racing at Motordrome...

The late model and SS counts are cause fir concern for sure- but let's Put some Perspective on it. Both were forseeable last year so essentially the new owner inherited this problem- one could argue it should've been addressed in the off season. It will undoubtedly be touch and go ad there are just enough cars in all divisions to field one track and there are now two viable options for racers. I don't know much bout late models but as for the SS- having different gear rules bw the two made no sense- and I believe some guys plan on racing Jtown as they see they have a better chance at winning- which they didnt feel they had at drome- the reasons can be argued to death but after one race and lap times it is clear the gear change did nothing. That in itself is unfortunate as many will say ' the gear change didn't work-see we told you' - when in reality the track set it up to fail since those interested in a gear rule wanted a much different gear(410/411) than the one chose(456). As for disagreements- the only I saw were not b/w drivers but b/w teams and those running the track. Let's just see how things get handled by new mgt.. It is disappointing that in the lower divisions the payout had already been decreased from what was originally stated- and is much higher at Jtown. Also it may beca little premature to look at car counts as it is first week of racing and the weather was bad.

Are some pavement teams holding out to run Jennerstown? Or are there just not many Late Model or Street Stock teams running on the pavement this year?

There will be more cars at Jennerstown. The low counts at Motordrome reflect the fact that the new owner rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Motordrome screwed the street stock drivers with that gear rule. There are more than 5 asphalt street stocks and late models in the area. You don't have to look farther than last seasons final point standings to see that.

Don't piss the new owner off.
This is his track he will run it with his rules take it or leave it.
If enough leave you will only hurt yourself and asphalt racing.
This guy is here to help build a track and build a business.
No cars = No money=No track
WAKE UP

this guy has screwed racers at every track he has been at. This is just another time of, if you don't like it go elsewhere, well now you have J-town and he loses.

What makes you think Jennerstown will be so great???/   Or that the car counts will be better? Racing In general is in trouble!  But Asphalt racing is in far worse trouble!  Then when  these tracks all FAIL again because of Low car counts and Fan counts....where is the next Promotor to take them over?  You asphalt racers all need to pull together and support one another.  Or you have no hope at all!

I love this forum! Hmmm seems to me every promoter that comes in says he's in it for the long haul- 'don't piss Off the promoter' ???? That some stupid reasoning there- every guy out there should be pissing him off if necessary if only to SAVE the track- voice your opinion when it comes to ideas related to making the track better...show me a promoter that listens to the teams and you will show me a rare breed. Corporate sponsorship will only get u so far- the backbone are the local drivers-teams- families- friends and their local sponsors- u must have this core first. Don't hand us that crap abt gear rule either when it's only a half truth- I have two street stocks- neither have been out yet. This is a problem caused by past mgt that goes far past gear rule that has to do with favoritism-cheating-costs getting out of control to be competitive........guys are fed up w that class and how it's handled. Go ask Track Champion Phillips what gear should be ran- it's not the gear they are running or the one ran before it. Melfi may have upset some guys but some guys made up there minds long before the gear rule change was finalized. As for counts yes it'll be a struggle because there are two options- let's see how it's handled- last time I checked there were serious signs of improvement and a positive direction felt for much of last year. There were fAns in the seats(and I don't care how they got there- free tickets- in it's heyday drome did half off like all the time) . I'd say dirt is in the same condition overall- how's the fan and car count at ppms- don't answer I Already know.

Actually, I think that jmmr has been around just fine.  When you are out in Podunk PA (and basically the only game in town  except the boob tube)  you don't have to compete for the entertainment buck. Oh well, lets move on. Car counts are down across the board. PERIOD!

What is the purpose of a gear rule? Usually it is to back-stop the rev limiter. Well, why do that? Better question is why are cars beating the chip! How about non stock cams in sealed crate engines? Soaked tires? Aluminum Drive shafts? Non functioning / hidden MSD boxes? Acid ported intakes and hog-cut valve bowls? Just to name a few.......  Let's call it what it is. Cheating! People, this stuff is just like computer hacking. Why have rules? - Keep the playing field level and to contain costs. Why have more or new rules? - Well, dah....... all of the above, and more! Why do the rule changes cost more money? - Because some people have already spent their money on the cheater hardware and now it costs them double cause now they got to change it back to where is was in the begin!  As far as the real high dolar stuff, you tell me how do you compete with a guy that overrevs his 47 grand Rousch-Yates and then writes a check for another one? That happened at the Firecracker and it was a local boy too! It's called Crate Racing.  Sealed Crate Racing!     Don't get me started.............. That's for another post.  Time for racers to protect racing.   That's just my $0.02 worth.
