I generally relate Wayne County, Fremont and even Attica as being closer to Western Pa, then Out East.

This Winged Sprint car fan was at Wayne County Saturday and at Susquehanna Sunday.  I HAVE to say there was no comparing the Show at Wayne County Saturday to the Show Sunday out east.  The show the drivers put on at Wayne County was so far superior to what I saw out east, it was amazing.  The show Sunday out east, compared to Wayne County was... boring.  When I think about that and what Mercer had for us the weekend before, this area is second to none if ya want to see a good Winged Sprint car race.

You realize that you went to about the 5th best option as far as Central PA tracks go correct? Even the central PA fans just go to Susky the few times 410s are there and aren't that fond of SSP. I like the track myself but heard Sunday wasn't a good show. The races at Williams Grove, Lincoln, & Port Royal are the regular 410 tracks and are 5 times the show Susky is as far as 410 Sprints go. The Saturday show at Williams Grove runs 3 divisions that outdraw most tracks in the Western PA that has 5 divisons & they charge 5 bucks. Lincoln has 34 sprints on Saturday night. Not saying Wayne County isn't good but you can't judge a whole regions racing on what you saw at one none regular tracks. That would be like be judging all Western PA Late Model racing from the show earlier this year at Mercer.

The Grove is the most overrated place I have been, it's a train race most nights.  Lincoln is my favorite CPA track.  You are right about sunday at susky, the cone deal sucked and the drivers complained about it and even stated they would rather the tires been out there.  The track didn't hold the moisture as well as it has during the previous races, I really thought it would be a good track considering the moisture we got all week in CPA.  Come on back next time the 410's are at susky it should be a better show.

Western pa and good sprint car racing in the same sentence, that's a stretch.

I went to Wayne County last September for a show that included Sprints. All of a sudden I got this fear that the mgmt. was going to lock the gates and charge us to get out!! LOL. Having said that-try this-on Saturday May 17th the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Assn. is coming to Wayne County. This is a good group.Should be plenty of cars and good racing! Reasonable admission too.Give it a try-if that's your thing!

Are you a young guy Port Royal? What you say now is probably quite true , the pay is usually a lot bettter out east and in western ohio , also they have a huge fan base to draw from out there. That did not used to be the case. It was here in the west and eastern ohio that had the faster cars. Floyd Trevis revolutionized the sprints here with his new design a leap forward from the super mods they were running here. If you look back a long time ago Henry Jacoby from Franklin , Pa. and Lou Blaney from Hartford,Oh. won the Williams Grove Nationals back in the 60's. Now that I am an oldtimer I don't venture far from home ,10 minutes from Mercer where it is tight , dusty and a drivers track , where the outsiders usually don't catch on to the tricky fourth turn for awhile , but sometimes the real good ones catch on fast , like Pittman did and sometimes not. Never been to the port but Del Rogeaux Sr. told me it was real big and real fast. I had some good times talking to him about the oldtime racing. Maybe try to get to the Port sometime , sounds awesome.

Honestly, I've never seen a sprint car race that I didn't enjoy!  No matter what track, or who was racing, they were all good, some were just better than others.  The Central Pa regulars are tough to beat on their home turf, and often times, they are tough to beat away from home as well.  I've only been to Mercer a couple times, but the sprint shows there were good.  Two of them were pretty exciting to watch,  Jamie Smith with a last lap pass for the win against the one of the touring groups that popped up several years ago (I can't remember the groups name, but I do remember Cameron Dodson was there and he was one of the hottest young drivers in the country at the time), and the Western Pa Sprint championship the year that Jimmy Seger charged through the field only to crash while making a pass for the lead.

I've seen good sprint races at every track that I've been too, and I've seen some snoozers at all of them too.  It is hard to beat the atmosphere at Williams Grove, especially when a local beats the outlaws, that place just explodes!!!
