I hr delay in starting because they couldn't get the cars registered on time. I then had to wait 45 minunets in the food line to be told they ran out, they need to get more people helping or its going tick fans off. The racing was good and the track was smooth and fast, they just need to work on getting the show started on time and move the fans through food lines much quicker.. ;)

I hope they get there stuff together! I give them credit for not panicking and cancelling with the threat of rain. On the same note the hour delay getting started was not good, hey it's the first week we can live with that, the food lines were crazy, with the threat of rain WHY such a long intermission. It will be a while before I return if I do.

Dog Hollow Beats Out Mother Nature for First Show of Season. Copeman, Laughard, Smith, Small & Frantz Score Opening Night Wins

by Dave Kittey

STRONGSTOWN, PA (May 9, 2014) – Dog Hollow Speedway beat out Mother Nature to get its first show of the season in the books with 93 cars signed into the pits. Picking up feature wins were Clate Copeman (Super Lates), Mike Laughard (FASTRAK LM), Nate Smith (Street Stocks), Bryan Small (Pure Stocks) and Josh Frantz (FWD 4 Cyl).  The feature events were completed after a 45 minute rain delay after all the heats were completed.

Duane Stiner was looking to get the opening night win trading the lead with Mike Blose several times.  Stiner was leading and the pair had a close battle before making contact entering turn one on lap nine.  Stiner went to the pits with a flat tire and Blose had to start from the tail.  This handed the lead over to Greensburg, PA’a Clate Copeman, who held off Brandon Delano for his 17th career feature win at Dog Hollow.  Delano was second followed by Mike Blose (from the tail), Dwayne Taneyhill and Terry Rayko.  Completing the top ten were Sam Gindlesperger, Bob Sheesley, Rich Runyan, Jr., Ryan Christoff and Todd Sallack. Stiner, Blose and Dan Swartzlander were heat winner for the 24 car field.

Andrew Satterlee was the early leader in the FASTRAK Crate Late Models.  On a double file restart after a yellow, Mike Laughard took over the lead and was able to pull away from Satterlee after a couple of restarts to take the feature win. The win for the Twin Rocks driver was the ninth of his career at the speedplant. Satterlee settled for second ahead of John Eckenrod, Joe Moyer, Shane Weaver, Corey Neal, Jeremy Shaffer, Dennis Bothell, John Mazey and Matt Bassaro. Heats were won by Satterlee and Dave Airgood, Jr.

Bryant Small of Cherry Tree capture his first-ever Dog Hollow Pure Stock feature win. Small jumped out into the lead early in the 15-lap event and held a comfortable lead over Ben Krause at the finish. Andrew Koenig was third over David Beahr, Ryan Claycomb, Marshall Detwiller, Jeff Shaffer, Jr., Andrew Wallace, Mike Benton and Chris Hickok.  Koenig and Small were heat winners.

The FWD 4 Cylinders produced another first time winner in Josh Prunty of Punxy, PA. Frantz grabbed the lead and checked out on the field for his feature win at Dog Hollow. Behind him at the checker was Matt Bryant, Jack Theys, Mike Phillipson, John Hayes, Dustin Tolar, 65C, Bill Hassenplug, Jim Kleitches and Paul Crynock.  Grabbing the heat wins for the 28 cars were Frantz, Brady Miller, Theys and John Costa.

The Street Stocks were making one of their many appearances with Nate Smith of Glen Campbell, PA taking the decisive win over Luke Barnett, Fuzzy Fields, Greg Moore, Mike Desch, Ray Hickok, Jr., Tony Brown, Dave Galore and Andy Burns. Heat winners were Desch and Smith.
