Previously Sanctioned NDRL Earl Hill Memorial at Tyler County Speedway to Roll off Unsanctioned Still Paying $10,000 to Win

For Immediate Release

May 12, 2014

Tyler County Speedway

(Middlebourne, WV) - Tyler County Speedway, currently celebrating forty years of racing action at the ¼ mile 'Bullring' is set to continue with the $10,000 to win 26th Annual 'Earl Hill Memorial' on Saturday July 26th in lieu of the (NDRL) National Dirt Racing League's unfortunate decision to cancel the event from its sanctioned schedule. The history making 'Earl Hill Memorial' will continue as planned for the fans of the Tyler County Speedway as promoter John Watson and company stand firm on their allegiance to pay $10,000 to the winner on Saturday night.

The un-sanctioning of the event comes after a call from NDRL officials was received yesterday afternoon that requested that the speedway "give up" their promised and scheduled Saturday night date in order to reschedule both nights of the Atomic Speedway's 'Atomic Blast' that was canceled due to rain over the past weekend. The now UNSANCTIONED event will showcase the Bullring's Super Late Model division in what is expected to be a stellar field of speedway favorites and area racers as they battle it out for the largest paying 'Earl Hill Memorial' on record.

"It's unfortunate the NDRL sanction was removed from the event but we were literally given no option from NDRL brass. We were told that we had no say in the matter and that Atomic would be getting our date. We were really looking forward to an NDRL event at the 'bullring' and was shocked to learn of the NDRL's decision to not honor their
Saturday night, July 26th commitment to the great fans of the speedway and the great state of West Virginia" stated Watson.

However, when one door closes another opens. As a true show of their appreciation Tyler Co. officials are staying committed to their die-hard fans and drivers as the $10,000 to win UNSANCTIONED 26th Annual Earl Hill Memorial will rock the hills of the Mountain State by putting the stars of our sport in the spotlight. Watson and company's 'the show must go on mentality' hopes to spark a rallying cry from the blue collar race fans in motorsports who want to see the grassroots racers earn a high dollar prize and reach high speed's at "America's Raciest Bullring" in honor of the late great Earl Hill. If the 20th running of the popular Topless 50 just a couple of weeks ago is any indication, an event featuring five different leaders, a classic side by side battle and a blast around the cushion pass for the win this seasons Earl Hill Memorial will be one for the ages.

Tyler County Speedway has long prided itself and showcased the best area and regional racers and on Saturday night, July 26th the 'bullring' will welcome all competitors. A ten thousand dollar first prize will await the winner with $500 start money welcoming all that highlight the 80 lap Memorial race main event. In addition several bonuses hope to be made available including the highest finishing racer who utilizes an open hauler to get to the event, heat race pay, quick time money, and the highest finishing steel block late model.

The backbone of this sport has always been the true weekend warrior's of the sport, much like the Earl Hill's, Jim Dunn's, and Charlie Swartz of the past it will be our pleasure to put the politics aside and present the 26th Annual UNSANCTIONED Earl Hill Memorial. No sanction fees, no entry fees, no provisionals just the regions bravest drivers up on the wheel putting on a show for the fans.....Tyler County style, with $10,000 large up for grabs.

Past winners of the Earl Hill Memorial include: Paul Wilmoth, Jared Miley, Jared Hawkins, Zack Dohm, Tim Dohm, Mike Benedum, Robbie Scott, Bobby Hill, Butch McGill, Gary Dalton, DJ Cline, Tim Hitt, Bob Adams Jr., Mike Hawkins, Bobby Davison.

For more information on the weekend please contact the speedway at 304-771-6874 or visit http://www.tylercountyspeedwayonline.com/.

When I went to KC/ atomic for the DTWC the race happened as it was supposed to and I was paid as I was supposed to be. When I went to Tyler County they took my money for 2 days of pit passes , never ran the big money show AND never paid me the $250.00 they OWE me . Never mind the 5 - 65 dollar pit passes I bought to run a single day 8k to win show but I
Wasn't even given the promised show up money . I personal call them getting their dated pulled karma .....

Except the fact that was a DIFFERENT PROMOTOR.  Why should the new promotors suffer "karma" from what an old promotor did?

And now we have cancellations for NDRL N.E. shows over Memorial Day weekend at Hagerstown & Roaring Knob also....  This is getting to be NDRL vs. WoO, and also add promoter Rick Jones???    NDRL really doesn't need to take on half of the SLM dirt track racing scene do they????  Outcome most likely won't be good for anybody....  Let's hope things start going in the positive direction real soon!

We WILL be holding an unsanctioned event at Roaring Knob on July 25th, just as Tyler County has decided to do. While the move by NDRL NE was not in our favor it has definitely opened more doors for us. Roaring Knob and Tyler County will be working together to see the drivers and fans get two great shows despite the actions of Mr. Kennedy. #downrightdirty #doubleheaderweekendPer Roaring Knob.
