I think its time for the tracks of Lernerville, PPMS, Sharon, and Mercer to work together and come up with a way to have full field of cars. Sorta like the FAST series but with the lates and mods too. Anyone agree or disagree ?

we as racers are our own worse enemies ,the high dollar teams have all the good stuff and they talk the track owners into letting them run their cars at their tracks and all the poor people that own their own cars scratch and save all winter to try to keep up the best they can . go into the pits and ask one of these high dollar streetstock drivers how much of their own pocket money they have in the car they are running and i bet you find they dont have a dime in it . can't anyone see these guys are killing our sport? and if we don't soon stop it they will kill it completly quit changing the rules to satisfy these high dollar teams and put the rules where a kid would want to build a car and be competitive . i don't even know what Lernerville's rules for their stocks are but i see they have a full field every week and have for the last few years . seems to me maybe a little guys nationals set of rules might be the way to go to get car counts up around the clearfield area .different weight rules for engine size or depending what transmission you have in the car .

Quit bawling about the cost of street stocks and run pure stock if you want stock rules. The cars you are bitching about are legal at lernerville and at little guys. Put your suit and tie on and go get some sponsors so you don't have to race on your own dime. Don't get on here and bash those who put time in to their program.

pure stocks have the biggest class at A.M.P because it is what the old street stock class was years ago m and if you look i am not currently running anything so this is not about me i said lernerville seems to have the street stock class figurted out and it seems to be working for them maybe your answer to why the car counts are down is to look at what lernerville is doing .

Most of PPMS' late models also run Lernerville. Lernerville and Sharon run the same rules for modifieds, and an awful lot of cars run both those tracks too.
There aren't so many sprints period, and regardless of it being Lernerville or Mercer. There's probably 25 or less sprinters in the area, and at that, there's realistically 8 or so cars that can actually win at either place. I can't see many people buying/building a sprint car to be shit on by the same 7 or 8 guys night in and night out.
I don't know what you would do that would change any of that to make more cars come in any division.

You ever think the reason Lernerville's stock class is good is because they have no competition for drawing cars on Friday nights while AMP is going up against two other tracks in close proximity on Saturday nights running pretty much the exact same divisions.....

if you think a.m.p streetstocks and marion center street stocks and hummingbird are all the same animal you need to get out more, the cars at marion center could pass off as late models at some places and you can run a bert tranny at a.m.p and as of now hummingbird you cant run a bert tranny .the problem is nobody will unify a rules package with the other area tracks and that is really what needs to happen .

Lernerville does have some competition from Dog Hollow about an hour away!! But the main reason they have such good fields in their "Sportsman" class is that is the ONLY support class at that track!! Throw in Strictly Stocks, Mini-stocks or some other kind of lower class and the car counts for the Stocks at Lernerville would go down. IMHO most western PA tracks have too many classes and that is hurting car counts. Four classes is plenty, not five or six!!

Too many tracks, too many support divisions. How many times does it have to be said? There are many people out there that used to go weekly, but now save their money and go to special shows. They see the big classes they want to see with out all of the bullshit. I don't blame them. Back gate promoting is helping to kill this sport as much as the economy, apathy or anything else.

Walt, Fwig, and Skull. You are all dead on. There is more killing this sport than just "the economy." Sometimes I think that actually is nothing more than an excuse.
I personally know many fans that used to be weekly regulars that now only go once in a while to specials so they don't have to deal with 4 + divisions of lower stuff just to see what they actually paid to see, as Skull said. Just sad.
And, like Walt said, there needs to be no more than 4 divisions TOPS. Having all these back gate divisions is a joke, period.
I know the eastern part of the state has a bit better economy, but, they get along just fine with 2-3 divisions tops and it keeps the front gate a whole lot better.

I'm not sure of the cost of a competitive e-mod, but I would think that would be a class every track should consider for a support class.
This weekend I know of at least 7 former super late drivers running a crate or e-mod. Just saying.

Assuming Sprints, Bigblocks and Super Lates are the top of the food chain, how would you list the following for cost of running in a support class?
Street stocks, Stocks or what ever you call what now looks sometimes like a latemodel, Steel block lates, crate lates, crate bigblock cars, 358 bigblock cars, emods, 4cylinders, 360 sprints, 305 sprints?
I'll leave out all the small replica's of regular size stuff and the odd ball categories track owners fill car racing back gates with.
How would you list the first group for cost to race. Include payout and the cost to the car.
High to low
1. ?
2. ?
3. ?
edit: or at least what do you think of the list is the cheapest to run and the most expensive?
Then maybe wouldn't it be great for car counts to pick a support class from the bottom of the food chain? Something in the middle and something at the top of the food chain?
