last night at amp there was a sign at the pit gate notifying all thoes that entered the pits they were to attend the drivers meetingi spoke to mr taylor prior to the meeting and asked if he would give a talk about why he has lowered the payout and he declined to go to the meeting and talk to thoes who were there at the meeting he thanked me for the sugestion the big topic of the meeting was safety and safety is the biggest part of our sport with that said during the late model feature while under caution luke hoffners car cought fire comming down the front stretch and he stopped in turn one and two and the corner workers ran to the car and removed the hood but they didnt have a fire extingushire to put out the fire they had to wait for the fire truck to come from the infield to put the fire out why were there no fire extingushires for the corner workers to use at thier position this should not have happened this is something that should be priority number one to keep the drivers safety first and formost i can remember years ago at the then hidden valley and gamblers there were firemen at each corner with fire extingushires i truely believe that each race track should have fire equipment available for the corner workers for a case like this every one around where i was watching could not beleive that this was happening amp needs to step up thier safety issues and have fire equipment for the corner workers available for a case like this grt0404 greg eckl

I can tell you that in the time that I was affiliated with the facility as a fan, racer, fire personnel and track employee, it was always the contracted fire department(s) that provided fire extinguishers for their folks to use. I have no idea how the track is operated now but I do agree that there NEEDS to be extinguishers in the corners, just in case.

This is a very serious sport with many chances of serious injuries around the next corner. Safety should be a top priority. Just because they rode in the fire truck to get there doesn't make them qualified. I won't be putting my life on the line with the current arrangement they have .

These are most likely volunteer fire departments and like racetracks and car counts, they too in many cases are hurting for numbers. Most volunteer departments have in house trainings for the basics such as the use of fire extinguishers, basic vehicle rescue etc. and send them to class for fire fighter 1 and beyond.

I know it was too little too late but I know for a fact that after that incident there were 2 firefighters with 2 different types of extinguishers standing next to me in turns 3 and 4. I'm hoping and guessing there were 2 in 1 and 2 as well. I'm hoping this will be the norm from now on.

Pro dirt if you wanna bash on the people that are providing services why don't you go get all the cert. necessary for what your asking for its about 250 hours worth of training total. Otherwise don't complain and yes I do have most of that training...
Well then 250 hrs it is then. If that's all it takes to be qualified to save a persons life it sounds to me to be time well spent. I'm happy to hear that your on your way to completing all the hours needed. It's too bad there aren't more, and no I don't have any interest in becoming certified in doing that. My statement was more of an observation of what I've seen more than complaining.
