Probably same reason he ran Bachmans car in the Bmain Friday and ran his car in feature... He has pull some where
He got busted trying to pull a fast one. It was stupid, anyway. Bachmann would have made the feature on his own. From what I understand someone went to the blackboard and told Smokey what was up.
As far as the lifetime ban from MCS, it would mean he was banned from the grounds forever, or until the track was under new ownership, AFAIC. But, I suppose if Rick Davis gave his blessing, MCS isn't going to turn the revenue away. Was he there testing or as a competitor? Because if he was there to race, I'd make sure he knew that he was on very thin ice. I had heard that when he raced at Lernerville the first time after this happened, he was made aware in no uncertain terms that was getting zero slack there.

Skull: He was there last Monday for a test session with Integra Shocks. He then showed up the following Saturday for the regular night of racing. Not sure if it was for the double feature that week, promotional reasons, or because he wants to race there again. Probably a mix of all three reasons.
Another thing I was thinking about...
What would it take to get an Outlaw, Lucas, or NDRL race to go to MCS? No scoreboard, but plenty of seating, plenty of parking, not sure how large the pits are, but I believe there would be enough space for them as well...

Ownership of MCS changed after the passing of Dave Potts. Hopefully, it's true that Davis gave the thumbs up. That would at least make it a little more understandable.

It would take about a 60k investment from the track to get a WoO/Lucas/NDRL show there. I don't see Marion Center ever doing that.

MCS was never sold after the death of Dave Potts but remains in the family. The two daughters and a son-in-law now operate the Joint.
Notice I said " Operate " and not " Promote ". There is a difference.
MCS would stand a chance of a Snow Ball in you know where to get a Lucas race.
The Lucas Series has standards that a track has to meet in order to gain a Lucas
race and if I am correct MCS falls far short in any of them.
The seating I believe would be around 1200 people at best and as far as Rest Room facilities, for the lack of a better word could be called nothing more then
" Out Houses ".
There are more things that are required but I am not sure what they are.
There is ample parking. 'Bout the only thing the track has going for it.
The only one of the three that I could see happening would be the NDRL North East Series and it is not going to happen.
After 45+ years It is a shame that gradual improvements were not made over that period of time. That place was always "Operated" and never "Promoted".
As far as Dave Potts RIP, his only vision was as the track is now and no more.
As always just my opinion ....

Lucas or World of Outlaws... Don't hold your breath. I don't know Lucas numbers but WoW are 65K, plus that much more needed in facility improvements.

They have as much of a chance,as Bradford getting a WoO race. Remember that post. Marion Center is a step above Bradford. Last time I was up there ,it was Hill Raceway. No way would I sit in those grandstands.

I enjoyed going to MCR the few times I have been there.
What I remember as a fan going there is you got to get there real early to get a seat anywhere near the top row or to put your chair above the top row. I remember a great place to get food and nice people working there. Sure there was not a score board but if your watching the racing, who cares.
I read a complaint it should be up dated, but if old time racing is so great, then why not keep an old time track, old time. I also remember and sort of expect the fog to roll in if the races don't get done on time. Fun track for fans? YOU BET! I hope to be back there some day soon.

I was at Marion Center with friends last weekend, there was a nice crowd and a very good field of cars which made for an entertaining evening. The only thing that needs updating is the outhouse.

And the lights for sure.
