(New Castle, PA) Following a very successful series debut at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on May 31st, the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series is set to take on the high banks of Raceway 7 in Conneaut Ohio this Friday, June 13th for the Tom Weller Memorial Stock Car Event. “Originally this was going to be a $500 to win show, however the Conneaut Phone Company added $300 and the series will increase the winners share by $200 courtesy of Mays Towing, if the winner is a Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Driver” states series director Shaun Hooks. “So basically its $800 to win, or $1,000 if the winner is a Homak Penn Ohio Series registered driver.” The series opener brought a huge turnout of 46 cars, including 19 series drivers, who are competing for the $10,000 season’s end point fund along with thousands of dollars in additional contingency awards.
By virtue of being the highest finishing series driver at Pittsburgh, Jeff Broniszewski currently leads the series point standings by two points over Rusty Martz with Shaun Faucett, Randy Wyant and Shaun Hooks completing the top five. In addition to the posted cash awards, registered series drivers’ will be eligible for the following contingency awards. The top five series finishers will receive bonus cash from Mays Towing as follows: $200, $100, $75, $50, $25. Crate Innovations will award an Accelerator Carb-1 Spacer to the 10th place series driver valued at $129.00. GM Roofing will award the $50.00 Hard Charger award; Wedge Motorsports the $50.00 Tough Luck Award and CD Gibbs Construction will present $50.00 to the Fast Time out of the Heat Races. Mid Atlantic Hoosier Racing Tire/Precise Racing will award a Hoosier tire to the highest finishing series driver who is on Hoosier tires, while Lias Racing Tire/American Racer will award an American Racer to the highest finishing series driver on American Racing Tires. The last series driver on the lead lap will earn a case of premium racing oil from Les Frickshun, Inc, and the first series non-qualifier will receive a rivet package from Cizmar Racing. 955 Automotive will award the 6th place series driver a RC2 Air Filter.
Raceway 7 is located six miles south of Interstate 90, on Ohio Route 7, just south of Monroe Center (and Bushnell), Ohio. The street address is 4094 Center Rd. The Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series will feature at least 10 events located in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania at various tracks utilizing the tracks rules and format. Registered Drivers for the series will receive points towards the year end championship with a guaranteed $10,000 point fund.
