did anyone ever think raising the late model weight limit to 2400 pounds ran most of the potential late models away.

no because we run a steel block and where they are having the guys put the weight really affects nothing

Sunhoney so your saying they had under 10 late models multiple times last year and they have under 10 this year and that's a huge drop in car count ??? Sounds to me like the place is the size of a shoe box and no conducive to racing high powered late models at anyway

Depends on what size shoes would fit in the shoe box.... :D     I've seen some really good late model races there over the years, and some that were painful to watch too.  Some of their ULMS specials back when it was gamblers were really good shows.

why add 150 pounds to race for 750 to win. steel block or aluminum that does not make sense when 2250 is the standard most anywhere. when there are multiple tracks in a small area and you are trying to get cars you do what you have to do.24 cars at marion center 24 or more at port royal I would be looking to get some aluminum engine cars, the steel block thing is going by the wayside unless it is a 358 rule.

Most will think I am crazy for saying this but there is a lot of potential to put on good shows and make some good money at that place but it won't/can't be done with the often tried and rarely true format that nearly every track in the area does. Until someone thinks outside the box; the pay, the competition and support will continue to suffer. AND yes, I believe that I do hold the keys to that facility being a success.

I agree Doc.  That is one of the reasons that I don't attend very often.  Other than the 305 sprints, it is the same old, same old.

A couple things I think would help. Raise the purse back up to where it was. If that goofy weight rule is still in effect get rid of it. It obviously didn't help. And last but certainly not least TRACK PREP TRACK PREP TRACK PREP There's no reason for fans to show up and see dry spots in the track an hour before start time or the mud bog all around turns one and two.

I was really expecting a huge jump this year compared to last year. But the teack seems to have fallen flat on its face. Hopefully im wrong and it'll turn around. But if not we'll be traveling again to watch out sport.

Here is one thing to think about when tracks make rules like the one put in place at AMP. You don't penalize the guys that are at the same weight as every other track in your area. If you are hell bent on leveling the field with weight (which I believe be a double edged sword) you give a weight break to the guys that need the field leveled so they can compete. That way the guys that have been supporting you don't have to make the decision do I add weight or do I just go someplace that I don't have to worry about it? Then when you roll it out you make it clear that if the competitors that need the weight break begin to win every week or are winning by large margins, you pull or adjust the rule.

It's the same old thing, the have's -VS- the have nots. The have's will get really angry really quick when you take away something they already have while the have nots will rejoice when you give them something they don't have.

Another thing that to me is a no brainer; don't piss off people that bring 3 cars and 20-30 fans to your racetrack every week. There is a right way to go about things and a wrong way to go about them. You could have handled the situation in a different way and maybe still had those folks supporting you.

Good luck AMP I hope you figure it out.

I tend to agree. For them to be successful, they have to offer a show that other tracks don't. I don't know what that would entail, because I'm admittedly not that familiar with what other classes are availiable in the area.

maybe these said people shouldn't be clowns....nobody can stand them....all i hear in the pits is how great the racing is without them (because i do know who you are hinting at)

The biggest problem is GAS prices have everything out of wack how can a working man have a hobby anymore let alone racing kinda tough for a guy to even take the family to watch races my guess when he can he's going to the track that has a pretty decent field of cars which is around 15 anymore jmo

Really? That's what you are going to hang your hat on out of everything I've posted today? You're such an a$$ hat!

And if you actually "read" it simply states that the situation could have been handled differently.

Most any track can suffer the loss of 3 cars, that's just 3 you don't have to pay BUT any of the local tracks in that area will notice the impact of 30 fans. I'm not saying that anyone will go bankrupt over them but they will notice.

I would like to send my congratulations to you on your brilliant mystery solving skills young Sherlock. You were so good that I didn't even know I was trying to hide the identity of who I was talking about.

Oh one other thing, why don't you go tell them that they are "jerk off's"? You sure talk good crap when your behind your keyboard but do you really want to put yourself in THAT situation again?

Say "goodnight" A$$ hat.
"Good night a$$ hat"

maybe these said people shouldn't be jerk off's....nobody can stand them....all i hear in the pits is how great the racing is without them (because i do know who you are hinting at)

there are several factors at play here fuel prices race car parts prices insurance food electirc prices fuel for track equipment 3 tracks within a short distance racing the same night and others as i said on another issue tracks need to come down off thier high horse and sit down and work out some common rules and race on different nights yea we have heard this before but the fact is i am convinced it would work have equal payouts for the classes at all 3 tracks and i really beleive it would work

I agree 100%. I truly believe if these places would ALL work together even the ones that are doing well would do better and help set up their future.
