Want to hear the definition of a " fair purse " is that where the track owner puts up undress of thousands of dollars to buy and refurbish the place and works all week to lose a couple grand every week ??? Or is it where he breaks even ??? Or where he makes 500??? Please explain what you call a " fair purse "

Touché' Tim W, Well said! Now, Mr. Taylor (what appears to be a knee-jerk reaction) decision after only one race this year. That decision made for a lot opinions on this forum. Now with 3 months of racing left it's not too late to make good decisions and get back what it could be.
Cutting the purse will lose cars, cutting the purse without a discussion with the racers will lose cars and lose trust. Reinstating the purse to what is was on the first night is a start but, still have the trust issue. I believe that the weekly purses DO MEAN SHIT!!!! If they didn't then everyone would go race for no purse, and make the owner very wealthy. I highly doubt that Legend and Bacon Bits (if you race) tells the Mileys to keep the winnings!?!?!?
I don't understand the logic with several on here saying that Hummingbird and Marion Center's roots? Everyone complained about Mr. Potts for years, and Louie is Louie what else is there to say. His mind is made up period. So with all this said, It is all about treating your "talent" with respect and honesty. Pay them a fair purse and treat your fans the same way the track will be successful. It doesn't matter what night you run, you show them the respect they will be loyal to you.
To the management at AMP, earn the trust back and you will flourish. Sundays, in my opinion, will not work, unless you make a rain date.
If weekly purses are so important, how did Raceway 7 fail as a super late model track, despite paying substantially more than anybody in the area? Why did Tri-City fail as a late model track when they paid roughly the same purse that 7 did when they ran supers? Why does McKean County struggle to draw cars? They currently pay the deepest purse of anybody. Why does Marion Center continue to thrive while paying the lowest purses in the area? The current version of Dog Hollow seems to be doing okay... Despite paying low purses. Why is that?
The biggest problem with AMP (and CNB for that matter) is location, location, location. Both tracks struggle to exist with multiple owners over the years and all sorts of different kinds of shows and still nobody comes. It's simply an area that cannot sustain another weekly track.

For once BaconBits is correct! All of those up North tracks are fighting the same uphill battle. WRONG LOCATION! No People with no jobs and no money to go see the races! And no money to build any cars either!

I don't know who grt0404 is, nor do I really care, but I will say I never told anyone AMP was closing in two weeks! I never said it because it's not true. I heard the "Rumor" when someone told me I said it!
Stop pointing fingers at people to make yourself look good and the others look bad,
And while I'm here, I may as well note that yes, Jeff did cut pays earlier in the season, and I agree it was too early, but I also know why he did it. And While he may have cut them, he was still offering more than neighboring tracks, except in the Late Models.
He plans to increase those once again, not sure how much, but he needed to see how things stood.
Show me a track that doesn't need cars?
AMP has no intentions of closing, so if you're here for points, trust me, you'll be glad you stayed, as there is a great point fund at the end of the season.
Jeff is already talking about next season and he has put out a ton of money on advertising, does this sound like a track preparing to close in two weeks?
I think not!
Lastly, Don't use my name for your own stupid lies!

Location is definitely an issue in Central PA, loads of people have no jobs, and a lot that do have jobs are making minimum wage...not all, but a lot...I feel that the economy is definitely one of the biggest struggles that tracks around here have...also take into consideration that race tracks are competing for an entertainment dollar, they are not only competing against other tracks they are competing against amusement parks, festivals, fairs...all kinds of things...the average family only has so much to spend and that's that...

So express man in one post you say location is the problem and the next post it's the purse ... So which is it ???
Its Both! And allways has been! Thats why those tracks have never been successful. Thats why Ferd Walace Paved the track at James Hyltons sugestion! Try something different that no one else in the area has and maybe you will get some business Legend i told all you people in previous posts how important location is! If you have right location the right Payout and a good surface that can be raced on.....You may be successful! Inless you are in todays economy! However....Iam in South Jersey this week and there doesn't seem to be any lack of money here????? Go Figure! Maybe we need a beach track in Cape May? In todays business world miss one important element..and your out of business.

I believe the real reason Ferd paved Clearfield was DEP was going to start regulating dirt tracks.

Accept access cards for admission and raffle off a carton of smokes and you should pack the place. That is the reality of Clearfield county.

where the hell do you get the idea that there are no jobs in this area i have not looked for a job and i have been at the same place for 20 years !!!some of you people make me laugh the problem is not the local economy the problem is you let guys with a boat load of money influence your rules. how many guys want to come to any track and compete against a 30 thousand dollar streeet stock .30 grand would buy you a heck of a nice late model .make a sensible set of rules like they were before and these guys will get their cars back out if these drivers are so great they should be able to beat you on a level playing field .paying 80 dollars for like 5 place in street stocks is not going to pay for your fuel for the night let alone anything else and i know nobody is in the business to make money but you can't afford to lose your ass every week either these guys are here to put on a show for the fans you need to figure out how to make money for everyone.dick delisle told me once an empty seat don't buy anything at the food stand maybe come up with an affordable family package like marion center has .or a 30 dollar a car load deal half the people in clearfield don't even know the track is open . and to kyle shannon hater (ksh8r) i have not hit anyone i was taken out in the chili race by another car dont worry about me i will be back running in last place sometime this year.

A fair purse is when positions 5 through 10 reduce losses, further back helps "field fillers" to come back each week, and when a top 10 car has a bad night. That's what weekly purses should be designed for, maintaining car counts. 10th is just as important as 1st.
Bacon - Raceway 7 bad management, Tri-City to my knowledge never ran LM's on a regular basis, plus a big motor track. This year MCR has had great LM fields.....
Who cares why Ferd paved the track, the facts are he paved it. This is about AMP.
Location???? Now this cracks me up! Lets see who has cut there teeth at HVS/GRP/AMP. David Scott, Robbie Blair, Dutch Davies, to name a few that I believe (not positive) got their first LM win.
I think others have covered the job market in this area.... There are good paying jobs in the area.

There may be some good paying jobs in the area...I don't call "Williamsport" the area...and not everyone has the ability to work the natural gas jobs, or drive truck etc...some are females, some are older, some have no experience...there are jobs in State College also, however that happens to be about 80 or 90 miles round trip...do the math on the gas...and not everyone has a vehicle that gets 45 mpg...there are NOT that many good paying jobs in the Clearfield and Philipsburg area...there are a few, but not that many...and anyone that thinks the economy has nothing to do with this is wrong...very wrong...people are going to go to one track a weekend if they are racing fans...not two or three...

I didn't say it wasn't a good job area, I said I didn't consider Williamsport which is way over an hour drive one way, "this area." Working in the gas fields is definitely a good job, but it's not everyone's cup of tea...I consider this area, Clearfield, Philipsburg, etc...
