 Street Stock class and the Steel Block class is a mystery. Why not combine the two classes and make one class. When you put a stopwatch on the two classes, the times are almost identical.....it really makes you wonder....WHY THE TWO SEPARATE CLASSES??? Putting the two classes together makes so much more sense, instead of 5-6 cars in a heat, you could have 9-10, and a full field for the feature.

 

THINKING INSIDE THE BOX is a concept that has created the the mess we now have in the street stock class....one car winning on a constant basis with NO RULES is not a concept to make the class better.

 

The tracks running SS need to really get a grip on this class and try instituting reasonable rules and non bias tech that has at least a knowledge of what to look for, not just open the hood and say...yeah it has an engine.....what racing sanctioning body in racing has NO rules???

We talked about something like this a couple years ago with the tech man at Hummingbird... One of the biggest fears was one of these full frame cars hitting a chassis car..

I agree our street stock class is out of hand... But combining a late model chassis class and stock frame class I fear would get somebody hurt..

We used to allow cars in the SS class that didn't fit the rules to move up and run with the LMs. Stopped doing it for that reason.

Rather see them combine pure stock and street stock somehow. Why have 2 classes running on the same 30-yr-old chassis? Makes zero sense to me.

I could definitely see combining the two stock classes... There were a few cars that had 8" rubber running with us last night..

Who knows what the answer really is.. No matter what you do.. Somebody isn't happy..

no no no please stop it with these same ideas i gave these tracks 5 years ago it is not fair punishing a team that has unlimited funds and expect them to have to actually learn how to drive a car when they can just out dollar everyone till everyone throws in the towel and quits , they spent 30 thousand dollars on a car now if you want to enjoy your hobby you can get 30 thousand dollars somewhere, oh! i know just ask jimmy johnson that is what i was told .maybe little guys national rules would be an idea that would cost nobody any money just give guys a weight break .oh that is right that is not fair for the deep pocket guys so forget that idea !!!! cars sitting in garages makes no sense to anyone .either do something with the rules  or SHUT UP AND RACE.

The two classes are miles apart on price . they may look close ( not really  ) on a watch but the price is 60% less   Hobby / Sportsman

but you are right ! there will be a guy with a $5000 dollar motor to win a bag of Potatoe Chips ..But it was and always will be

It's hard to say more rules or less rules. Some tracks have a lot of rules that try and make is more cost effective. But still have low car count's. You will always have people that will out spend what the class should be. So you have track's opening up the rules and saying that racer's are going to send the money for it anyways. That's when it gets out of hand.We as racer's are our own worst enemy. We have made this mess now we have to try and save it.

BINGO!!!

Up this way (HB, AMP, MC, DH) the pure stock/street stock cars are closing the gap between each other quickly!!! I get to see a lot of them up close... I know of several cars that have larger cu in engines in the PS class, than what I run in the SS class..

Every year a post similar to this one pops up... Because somebody is outspending someone else and winning....

Putting all Street Stocks/Sportsman Cars on 8in Tires would help.  Makes a big motor useless if you can't put the HP to the ground.

Different tracks have different ways of calming the bigger motors. 8" tires work. 2 barrels work. The key is figuring out what will be the best compromise. I agree the big money can be beat. And not all the fast cars are as big money as you imply. As soon as someone reels off a few wins or wins by a big margin they are labeled a cheater and have an 18 degree 434, late model suspension components, and traction control. The rules as they are allow guys to race almost anywhere in this half of the state. Hard decision to make your rules different and limit what cars are legal. Someone has to break away from the norm though. Apparently allowing cars from different tracks to be legal isn't attracting those cars this year.

are all the steel block cars similiar in lap times to a ss or just the ones who are only in that class for the tow money?
