The Buckeye Machine B.O.S.S. Sprints made their first appearance at America's Motorsports Park earlier tonite. Brandon Spithaler of Evans City PA dominated the 25 lap feature event with Dustin Smith of Russiaville Indiana taking the runner up spot. 27 sprint teams were on hand including several Laurel Highlands 305 competitors who removed the wings and tried their best to make the A-main.

Regular class winners included; Dan Smeal in the Srock Contracting steet stocks, Duane Siner in the Randy Sterling Trucking late models, Ronnie Bottenfield in the Denny's Beer Barrel Pub semi-lates, Justin Queen in the Satterlee Oil pure stocks and newcomer Justin Williamson in the Clearfield County Metals four cylinders.

A great crowd was on hand with the winner of the 50/50 taking home $1064.00.. Racing Legend Red Farmer had another tough trip to Central PA getting tangled up on lap three of the feature and ending his night early. Full results will be in Terry Whetstone's press release and posted to website.

Regular shows will resume for the next few weeks with The Connor Bobik Memorial wrapping up the month on Sunday July the 27th. The memorial race will be $3000.00 to win $300.00 to win for the super late models (2300lb weight), and $500 to win for the Laurel Highlands 305 sprints. More information on this event as the date draws closer.

Check out the " Clinton County Results " thread to get a little info on the ageless Red Farmer.

He claims to have been born between 1928 and 1932 which would make him between 82 and 86.  He says he doesn't know for sure because he was too young to read his birth certificate.

To be flexable enough at that age to be able to crawl into a Late Model is a feat in its self.

Hope he continues to do his stretching exercises.

Red was a famed member of the "Alabama Gang "  which included himself,  Bobby Allison,  Donnie Allison and Neil Bonnet.

All of the original members of the Alabama Gang have been inducted into the

International Motorsports Hall of fame.

All three of the original members of the "Alabama Gang" were from south Florida and raced such tracks as Hollywood & Palm Beach before moving to Alabama in the very early 1960s due to much better racing purses. All were running Modified cars at the time back in the coupe days.  Much of my school days was spent in Florida due to my father's health.  Red and Bobby were racing in Alabama by 1960 and Donnie followed them north.  Others such as Will Cagle, Jackie Evans, Bobby Malzhan, Buzzie Reutimann and Rags Carter went further north to race Modifieds in NJ, NY and eastern PA at places like Reading & Nazareth.  And years later were followed by Gary Balough, who came here to western PA for a couple years before making the jump from Late models to Modiefids further east.  Florida tracks didn't pay well and those guys all pretty much made their living from the sport!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

Walt
