(New Castle, PA) The Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series will make the first of two visits to Mercer Raceway Park this Sunday, July 13 with a $500.00 to win feature race, with bonus cash sponsored by Rich & Freeds Auto Parts and Shaffer’s Towing up for grabs for any registered Homak Series driver. The series is coming off a visit to the Expo Speedway as part of the Trumbull County Fair that saw Chris Schneider pick up his first win of the season. “Mercer is like home to me” noted series director Shaun Hooks “I have so many laps there as do a lot of the guys in the series, it should be a great race!”
Hooks will be in competition along with several other Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship drivers as he continues to lead the point standings. He, along with Chris Withers and Chris Schneider have scored series victories in 2014. Sixteen (16) registered drivers have participated in all four events thus far with an average car count of 32. In addition to the race purse, Rich & Freeds Auto Parts and Shaffer’s Towing have combined to add $350.00 to the possible winnings with $200 going to the highest finishing registered Homak Penn Ohio Driver, followed by $100 and $50 respectively. $50.00 compliments of GM Roofing will be awarded to the hard charger and $50.00 sponsored by Wedge Motorsports will go to the driver with the toughest luck. CD Gibbs will again sponsor the fast time out of the heat races with a $50.00 Award. Two drawings will be held for a drum of VP racing fuel, compliments of Ingram Race Engines and a professional grade tool cart, courtesy of series race sponsor Homak Inc.
Mercer Raceway Park is a 3/8-mile dirt track located minutes from both Interstate 79 and 80 just off Route 19 on Fairground Road in Mercer, Pa. Dirt track racing and quality family entertainment are presented weekly from late March through late September. For more information, check out www.mercerracewaypark.com. The adult admission will be just $15, while seniors (60+) will come in for $13 and students (9-15) for $7. Children age eight and under will be free, as always. The Family Pass will be $32, and that will be good for two adults and up to four minors of any age. Pit Passes will be $30. Gates will open at 4 p.m., with practice at 6:30 and racing at 7.
The Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series will feature at least 10 events located in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania at various tracks utilizing the tracks rules and format. Registered Drivers for the series will receive points towards the year end championship with a guaranteed $10,000 point fund.
