Martin Returns to Dog Hollow Victory Lane; Blose, Smith & Lee Repeat; Pavelko Inherits 4 Cylinder Win.

 

            STRONGSTOWN, PA (July 11, 2014) – Joe Martin returned to victory lane after a one year layoff in the Lias Tire FASTRAK Crate Late Models and Tom Pavelko was awarded the FWD 4 Cylinder win for his first of the season. Mike Blose (Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models), Nate Smith (Street Stocks) and Jon Lee (Pure Stocks) were all repeat winners Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway.

            Quintin Wyandt jumped into the lead at the start of the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature. Wyandt was pounding the outside cushion, as he raced with his teammate Brandon Delano, side by side. A restart on lap four saw Delano take the lead and begin to pull away until another caution appeared on lap 12.  On the double file restart Blose took over the top spot with Delano in tow.  Delano tried to get by several times but was unable to pull it off. Blose, of New Bethlehem, won his third feature of the season. Delano came up just a little short for second over Clate Copeman (from 17^th), Dwyane Taneyhill and Duane Stiner.  Sixth through tenth were Dan Swartzlander, Ryan Christoff, Andrew Gordon, Bobby Watt and Dan Lee. Heat races were won by Taneyhill and Blose.

            Joey Petyak led the first lap of the Lias Tire FASTRAK Crate Late Model feature.  Mayport’s Joe Martin took over on lap two. Martin built up a comfortable lead as Andrew Satterlee worked his way from the back of the field. Satterlee, who went to the tail after an accident, moved into second on lap 17 but by then Martin was long gone scoring his first DHS win since 2012. Satterlee, Mike Laughard, Corey Neal and Joe Moyer were the top five.  Shane Weaver and Satterlee were the heat winners.

            Fourth starting Josh Frantz grabbed the lead as the green dropped and kept Tom Pavelko a safe distance behind him. Frantz led all 12 laps only to be disqualified for illegal tires.  This gave the win to Cherry Tree’s Tom Pavelko, his first of 2014. Jack Theys was second ahead of Brady Miller, John Hayes and John Costa. Frantz and Pavelko won the two heats.

            It was the same old song in the 15-lap Street Stock feature. Nate Smith, of Glen Campbell, started on the pull thanks to an invert two redraw, and drove away from the pack. Smith led all 15-laps scoring his sixth straight victory. Mike Desch, Matt Hugill, Greg Hauger and Brent Bingaman were the top five. Smith won the lone heat.

            Jon Lee took advantage of his outside front row starting spot in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature. Lee was hounded by Ryan Claycomb twelve laps until Claycombs motor gave up the ghost. Marshall Detwiller took up the chase on the final two laps and had to settle for second over David Beahr, Jason Bender and Mike Benton.  Lee also won the heat.

            The Super Modified Lawn Mowers came in to put on a show for the fans. Matt Brown, of Winchester, VA, took the win over Dan Harris, Jeff Reel, Jeff Fochler and Juston Reel.

            On Friday, July 18, it will be the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models, Lias Tire FASTRAK Crate Late Models, Pure Stocks, FWD 4 Cylinders and Mod 4s.  The 4 Cylinders will run a 20 lap feature with and increased purse. Check out our website at doghollowspeedway.net.

Wonder why people say about Satterlee cherry pickin but nobody says anything about Smith running in the wrong class all the time

No Rules, is NOT the solution to the "Street Stock" and "Pure Stock" classes.....there needs to be standards set for these race classes and rules that can be put in place and adhered to by people who have at the least a "HANDS ON KNOWLEDGE" of the rules.

 

And have a system to pick "PILLS" so that the same person isn't starting on the front row every week, or.....you win two weeks in a row, you start from the rear the next week, or the next time you race....It would be nice if Marion Center and Dog Hollow could get together on standard rules for SS and PS, but that is probably a pipe dream.

 

This may not be the answer, but something MUST be done....
