With Shane Helms announcing the new Renegade Sprint Series I can't believe this message board is so quiet about it. Explains why all the All Star cars are not supporting the shows. It might be just what this area needs, just want to hear your opinion.

If all I hear about Guy Webb is true,Shame on you Guy for killing the All Stars.

The first question might be whether Guy paid Bert and his wife in full for the All Stars. Not saying that he didn't.

I heard he didn't last night, but have no idea if that is true!! I have heard little good about Guy Webb in recent years, but you know how those things go in our sport!! However, with that much smoke, there is likely to be some fire!!! I wonder if Jared Miley and Robbie Blair ever got paid for all they were owed when the All Stars ran Late Models a few years back?? Non-payment of point money and such is supposed to be at the heart of the current problems with the Sprint car guys, but I need to be told by a couple of drivers or car owners they haven't been paid before I take that to the bank!! I did talk with Mr. Helms last night and he appeared to be a straight shooter.
GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

I'll vouch for Shane but creating a new All Star sries is a big undertaking. There will be intense pressure to reduce purses and that won't get it.You can't blame the tracks-they will try to give dates for lower purses.Look at the rock bottom that the BOSS Series runs for. Shane needs to get Attica-Fremont-Sharon- Atomic-Lernerville and Wayne County on his team NOW! Eldora has great dates with the WOO and might be a tougher sell but if the other tracks come on board,Eldora will book dates too.Once this long time group comes on board I believe Shane will be in business.

Greed is killing the ASCoC just like it killed the old MACS SLM series. Staying regional wasn't good enough. When you start booking shows that cause teams to have to dead head 10 hours to and from, they are not going to support it. If this Helms keeps the races primarily in the N.E., he should do well.

I think legend and Dale have hit this on the head. I am the promoter of a regional karting series and you would not belive what goes into that. Sometimes even my own money. Times are hard for all traveling series right now. There is no money out there. The economy is not going to turn around anytime soon. Those running this new series will find it tougher going than they think. Not saying they wont make it. But, its not just as easy as scheduling races and showing up. I feel bad that the all stars are having problems but I also understand because there is just no money to be made. Promoters lose money just about every night they run. I know I do. Lol.

Add Limaland to the list of "Must Have" tracks.Just like the Legend said, there just isn't any big profits involved.I imagine Kennedy was already bleeding red ink. Guy Webb has made some serious errors with sponsors. Unless you have the money in your hand-there is no sponsorship! On buying the All-Stars,what's to buy? About 14 years or so ago Bert Emick said he would sell the All Stars to Ted Johnson for a million bucks.Ted's quick reply was--"That's a lot of money for a pair of Stop Watches"! That just about says it all! Most of these deals aren't worth anything-so there's not even any investment value. The All Stars don't have any property or long term dates-just like most of the Sanctioning bodies. Good luck to Shane!

Dale is right most sanction bodies have no real value. Some may have a truck/trailer, maybe a t-shirt trailer, but no real assets. One thing they do have sometimes is a good name. If the purses/point funds are paid, sponsorship obligations are met, the track promotors, competitors and fans are happy with you, that goes a long way. Skull and Legend have some good points also. I don't think any of these sanctioning bodies are rolling the cash in, but some have to be making something, or why would they continue? On Skull's point about greed, I think its more arrogance by some of these sanctions. Remember Doug Bland? About 10-11 years ago he bought STARS and the UDTRA (Hav-A-Tampa) Late Model series. He figured he was going to lead the Late Models to the next level, be the next Bill France. Didn't work out to well for him did it? Some of these series need to figure out if they are going to be "National" series or "Regional " series. If its regional, figure out what your region is. Set boundries and don't go beyond them. With MACS, a lot of what killed them is they didn't look at who was running with them. They for the most part had a number of weekly racers that wanted to occasionally wanted to go out on the road and see how good they were. They did not have teams that were set up for long tows. The All Stars are doing the same thing, while there teams are not weekly racers, there not WoO types either. Figure out what your region is and stick with it. I hope the new series does well.

Skull I don't see where " greed " is a factor. You act like the all stars owner made 500k a year running the series regional and made a million when he branched out . Ask Kennedy how much money those series make ....
What else what it be, Jon? Why would Guy Webb schedule races as far west as the Dakotas, where Bert Emrick never sanctioned races? Someone in a post below mentioned arrogance......what breeds arrogance in business? The almighty dollar.
And while we are on the subject, wasn't greed/arrogance/revenge all factors for Kennedy forming the NDRL and trying to turn it into a series that was going to run the WoO out of business? What else, other than the almighty dollar, causes people to take on such "headaches"? Love of racing? Yeah, right. That's it. That's why these people are on the road for nine months out of the year, putting up with headache after headache. God knows, according to you Huck, anybody involved in dirt track racing is one slip from bankruptcy. None of them are making any money. They are all broke. Businesses that don't make an acceptable profit don't stay open. There is no way anyone can spin that any other way. If they lose money, or aren't making acceptable profits, they close. It's not complicated.

If they can get Attica and Fremont they will be well on their way.

Some people don't have profit as a motive. Some people do something's to create the illusion that they are loaded ....
I don't disagree with that.
