25th Annual Jook George Memorial
Showcases RUSH Pro-Lates
This Saturday
PITTSBURGH, PA — The month of August is winding down, but continues to heat up with the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models in the spotlight for the 25th Annual Jook George Classic this Saturday at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. A complete program for the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and 3/4 Late Models will complete the evening’s racing action. All at regular grandstand admission prices.
The Jook George Fall Classic started in 1990 to showcase the Pro-Late Model teams and we are proud to continue the event in his memory. Jook loved the sport of auto racing and we at PPMS would like to instill that love of the sport into today’s fans. Jook enjoyed youngsters and often brought gifts to the speedway for them. This season the pre-race activities will include a FREE Barnyard Animal Petting Zoo starting at 5:30 PM. Pony rides will also be available. In addition, Beaver County Youth age 16 and under are FREE, while Beaver County Adults with photo ID get a $2 discount as part of Beaver County Night. Washington County Youth Night is coming up September 6.
The evening will get underway with group time trials for the Precise RUSH Pro-Late Model competitors. CLEETUS Inc will award $100 for fast time. The times will determine the heat race lineups and the top finishers in the preliminary events will redraw for their starting positions in the 25-lap main event. Castelveter
Racing will add $100 to the hard charger in the $1,000 to win event. Colton Flinner was the victor in last year’s Jook George event at the “Monster Half Mile”.
The Jook George Memorial’s victors include Super Late stand outs Mike Johnson, Mike Pegher, Jr., Colton Flinner, Brandon Burgoon and Jim Stephans. The complete list of winners is as follows: 1990 Bill Yakin, 1991 Bill Yakin, 1992 Mike Johnson, 1993 Bill Yakin, 1994 Rich Curry, 1995 Mel Minnick, Jr., 1996 Jason Cisson, 1997 Dave Wade, 1998 Dave Wade, 1999 Jim Stephans, 2000 Dave Wade, 2001 Brian Laraway, 2002 Gary Cellone, 2003 Bobby Castelvetter, 2004 Pete Loria, 2005 Brandon Burgoon, 2006 Tommy Schirnhofer, Jr., 2007 Kyle Lukon, 2008 Mike Pegher, Jr., 2009 Mike Pegher, Jr., 2010 Dan Angelicchio, 2011 Mike Pegher, Jr., 2012 Kyle Lukon, 2013 Colton Flinner.
The Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates for this this week’s racing action open at 5:00PM with qualifying for the Pro-Late Model competitors beginning at approximately 6:30PM and the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM.
Adult Grandstand Admission is $15.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $14.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $10.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Bertha.
RUSH Pro-Late Model competitors are also reminded that NO CAR ENTRY FEE is required. Pit Admission for this week’s event is $35.00.
Don’t forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of amusement park munchies with our delicious 1/4 pound burgers & Berks hot dogs leasing the way, or try our monster chicken wings, grilled chicken sandwiches, great new chicken strips and French fry basket, and ever popular funnel cakes, ice balls, and cotton candy at “fan friendly prices.” In addition, Ed’s Pub features a large selection of beer and mixed drinks at affordable prices.
