I take it that this coming Sunday's race is at 7:00 again. Why start this late on a Sunday ??

I'd imagine due to visibility issues for the drivers. The place is difficult to see through the dust as it is, and then you throw in the sun setting in turn 1, things get difficult.

If that's the case, both days are the same classes, and the cars are there from sat. nite. ( and some fans I'm sure) Why not start at 1:00 and beat the setting sun, then everyone gets home at a descent time?

Because daytime surfaces suck. Nobody wants to race on a daytime surface and nobody wants to watch a daytime surface.

Do you really think anyone would be able to see the race, yet alone breath if they raced in the day time?

... from, the guy in the full face respirator, who ain't going to give up watching racin just to breath.

Daytime is just stupid thinking 82 degrees and sun that be a great race. The only thing they should have gone different is only have run 2or 3 classes at best. The other thing they need to star ONTIME

I would rather get home a little later and see a better surface.  They usually run a quick show at Mercer.

Was rather "dusty" again on Saturday, even with the moisture coming up after the sun went down, could not even imagine it with the sun beating down...

Mercer has been dusty but that's simply the surface they have. They prepare it well and it can hold moisture. That track has been putting on a great show lately. I don't mind dust in that situation. Just put on an extra pair of glasses B)

Just wondering. But does anyone know if Mercer has looked into changing their track surface from that gritty dirt to anything with a clay base?

Not doubt about that NUTS... I should not complain, not too many people have 4 dirt tracks within an hours drive to attend, but would have been nice to have the bleachers on the east side, prevailing wind is almost ALWAYS out of the west....they do a good job and cant make many more improvements, other than like you said change the surface...would be nice to reconfigure and put some of that red clay down...if only I was a multi-millionaire....

I think if it were not for the bike races they may have watered. They really need to though to water the burm in 3-4 so the guys don't drag that extra dust

TEAM29, your post makes no sense to me why would you want to sit on the east side of a track with the winds mainly coming out of the west. Mercer is always a dusty place, mostly turn 4 bleachers try sitting in turn 1 much lest dust.

POLISH yeah you are exactly right, I should have said "would have been nice to have the bleachers on the WEST side" ...my bad, good catch...
