Even though I don't race there and I'm not a huge fan of the place last night is one of the reasons they get such good fan and driver support ... People know that if at all possible they will get the damn show in !!! They don't cancel just because sunhoney spit it on the track instead if taking the jelly !!!

I guess dog hollow and ppms could take note on how to run a track as you seen last night by what lernerville did after atleast 1 in of rain fell in less than 20 minutes and flooded the track, grandstands, ect out!

No doubt some tracks not mentioning any names cancel due to low fan counts more than the actual weather . The problem is once you start that BS the fans catch on and don't show up when the weather is questionable .... Then you run the risk of them having more fun that night somewhere other than the race track and not coming back when the weather is nice. They call it the " death spiral " aka " the death rattle of liberalism lol

From the sounds of it Express Man would have had his "hammer down" surface! Unfortunately sounded like they tore up some equipment due to the adverse conditions.

I saw a lot of cars DNS. Did their stuff get tore up or did they leave because of the weather? Just curious

The issue @ PPMS is when it rains, guess where all the run off ends up, thats a HUGE amount of runoff based on the size of the track.

I 'heard' years ago there is piped drainage at the base of the track, but it is clogged/inoperative.

Anyone else ever heard or know anything about these supposed drains?

I don't recall reading where anyone said "hammer down conditions" were easy on a car. Its racing, not a hot rod cruise or the World of Wheels car show. Dry/slick conditions suck for the fans, period. Buy a trailer queen if that's what you want, or go asphalt racing.

As far as last night, I thought the decision to run the track in and race was admirable, but it was a disaster.

The Legend and Sparkler are right on.

Last night was one of the few nights, if any that I attend a regular night of racing at
Lernerville.

I did because I thought there would be a turn out of Super Lates tuning up for next weeks
WoO event. [ Satterlee ]

That rain hit so hard and so fast during the 1st Late Model heat race that they didn't even
get a chance to slow down while going full bore down the back stretch.

It was crazy seeing those cars sailing off number 3 and into the barriers because they were
unable to slow down or turn because the track was so slick.

I don't know the damage estimate, but only 3 cars I believe started the heat after the long rain delay.

Check the results and see the DNS for the feature. Some might have left the scene thinking
there would be no way that this night would continue, myself included.

Steady " Typhoon " conditions for 15 minutes or so. I must have been standing in 3 inches
of water under the Grandstand.

Never seen any thing like it and guess what? After it quit they announced that they were
going to try and get this show in and after the water drained from the track and they could
get on it.

11 PM AND THEY ARE RACING ..... AMAZING

Anyone that was there can vouch for this.

Only 3 cars or maybe 4 restarted the heat because of the incident of the
cars sailing off number 3 because of the slick conditions and suffered
damage or they chose to leave because they felt this night would not
continue.

Satterlee probably hit the road for the Outlaw show at the 'Grove.

See " bezerker " post on Fab 4 quick results. That pretty much sums it up.

I'm assuming all three Kings left because of work commitments today. The rain hit as the Supers where heading down the back stretch during their first heat. It was so much so fast that the track became instant ice and Satterlee, Ferree and Miley were among the cars that went over the hill beside the pit entrance. I understand Ferree's car was brand new and was pretty much junk as he hit one of the Jersey barriers. I don't know for sure, but I assume the damage to Satterlee and Miley was enough that they left. The other name I know that scratched was Tim Schaeffer in the Sprints again, maybe for work commitments.

First, they pushed the Sprints out to get heat in their motors. They were getting stuck on the inside of the track, and so were the push vehicles. What ordinarily takes 5 minutes turned into a half hour. They ran the Stocks first because theirs was the only points championship that wasn't decided. 18 cars started, and about 8 or nine finished. If you got above the groove exiting two, you were going over the hill. If you got too low around the bottom, mostly in one and two, you went around, then it took forever to get out. I don't know how many cautions their were, but the race had to take at least 45 minutes to complete.

I'm not bitching about the Stocks. In fact, it pissed me off because I heard some buzzard of a broad sitting near us say more than once that "this is why they run last every week." Bullshit. That track wasn't ready for anyone to race on. The track crew kept dumping dry dirt against the front stretch wall in front of the flag stand because the lake in the walk way in front of the grandstand had to be draining there. There were a lot of guys getting flat tires, and a buddy of mine wondered if there was debris in that dirt that was causing it.

The officiating was less than stellar, also. I understand they made a decision to run the track in and race. In an effort not to piss off the locals, they wanted to get the show over with as quickly a possible. Fine. But they likely screwed Bob Egley out of a feature win because they made him pit to rip his spoiler off because it was dragging on the track. They routinely bend quarter panels and check for front suspension damage when someone stops. What the hell? I couldn't tell if that pissed the flagman off, or if it was the fact that his headset was malfunctioning. Either way, from then on, he was surly.

What the luck are you talking about? If I got excited about shit getting tore up, then why the hell would I call what I saw last night a disaster? Stick to your phallic references and ripping on Suhoney. Being witty isn't your forte. Or go wax your LM, and take some selfies of you with it in the background.

You're right, like most things at PPMS they don't work anymore.  Inoperative pretty much describes the track in a nutshell.

My count shows 7 yellows in the Sportsman race.  The Kings are often out on the job pouring concrete at like six in the morning, so quite likely that is why they left.  I hear that someone in Shingledecker's family was hurt in an accident and that is why they left.   Fellow AARN writer Chuck Bolinger reports that Ferree's car received some heavy damage in the slide off turn three.   There was a problem with the Raceciever system during the Sportsman race. Dead battery I think, and then quickly fixed.  Tim Shaffer's team was in mostly for the Mercer races today and tomorrow and probably didn't want to wait around for the long rain delay.   And how about that 1-2  410 Sprint rookie finish with Wagner & Flick!!   Nice job guys!!   Wagner's first 410 win but he has won over 20 305 races in central PA.  Flick returns to State College today, but will be back for coming races at Lernerville, Mercer and probably Pittsburgh.

All and all it was not a good night of racing, but every track gets nights like that from time to time!!   The officials and crew worked their butts off under some very trying conditions, My hat is off to all of them!!   Had it not been the last regular race I am sure Gary would have just canceled after the rain and said "Rain checks next week"!!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!!

Walt

Our car didn't get damaged at all when we slid off the track, as we were fortunate enough to not hit anything!

We also knew that they did not cancel and were attempting to run the track in when we left. The race track was already WFO before it rained so we knew it could only get much worse, Its just way to hard on equipment for a local team like us to be able to afford to race in those conditions, PPMS has been the same way much of this season which is why we haven't been racing there much besides the bigger shows...

Oh look at that .... One of the top regional talents who is capable of winning on all conditions agrees that hammer down is way too expensive to race on at local shows .... Putting 3k of wear on a car and motor doesn't make sense for 11 or 1500 to win . The single best thing promoters can do to
Make racing more affordable is throw away the keys to the damn water truck . I have seen incredible shows on dead slick conditions as long as the inside lane doesn't take rubber. Figure out how to make slick conditions raceable and you will have more cars , fans come
To see cars . Keep everything WFO and you will have skull creaming his pants watching 9 cars beat themselves to death ....

I would expect this statement from someone like ken schentelbrand or a low budget racer, not someone who has numerous cars and equipment that can run at a top level. Glad to see kenny get 2nd last night, way to go!

Place was SERIOUSLY under water from the track, to the grandstands, to the pits! Congrats on giving us teams a hell of a seasons ending to fab 4!

One other thing i forgot to mention was for the staff keeping the fans entertained while they ran they track in for 3 hrs by doing trivia, ect and not just having them sit on soaked boards like other tracks would have done. This was a nice gesture also.

Sparkler if you have 10 cars or 1 car economics are still economics , unless you are mega loaded you can't do 3k worth of wear and tear to win 1500 on a weekly basis . The racing at ppms can be better when the supers are running 20.0 flat as when the leader runs 17.75 and second runs 18.75 . All the have to do is stop watering the piss out of the bottom to
Make it unusable and stop watering the piss out of the top to make it blazing fast. If guys can't afford your track conditions they go other places or don't race. It's 85 degrees and the sun is blazing if ppms is in the 17's again tonight it's because that's what the track crew intended .
