From today's PG

Lugnuts
The 410 Winged Sprint Cars headline the schedule for the final time this season at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway. The 20-lap, $2,000 to-win feature should attract the best local drivers, as no other track in the area will be racing 410 Sprint Cars. All divisions will be in action at 7 p.m. as the season winds down. Alex Ferree leads John Mollick by nine points in the Super Late Models, while Nico Dabecco holds an eight point advantage over Corey McPherson in the RUSH Late Models. ... Mercer Raceway Park will be dark Saturday, one weekend after the 25th Western Pennsylvania Sprint Car Championships, which featured the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions. Dale Blaney won his first sprint car race Saturday at MRP, taking the preliminary feature. Sunday, Aliquippa native Tim Shaffer won the 30-lap, $5,000 to-win Western PA Sprint Car Championship, holding off a late charge by Danny Holtgraver of Pittsburgh. ... The final two episodes of Open Throttle 360 aired on Root Sports will be moved from the Saturday spot to 11 a.m. Sunday. This Sunday, the show will feature coverage from the IHRA Nitro Jam at Pittsburgh Raceway Park in early August along with a recap of Nostalgia Night at Lernerville Speedway.

DJ Johnson can be reached at DJ 1360rpm@aol.com

RUSH Modifieds also get a crack at the Monster Half Mile Sat.

What a let down! Looks like 10 or 12 sprints.
Mileys you gave these guys every chance to make this work but they just don't show.
The only thing I can figure is it too fast for these guys. If i ran this place i would never put on another 410 show.
Bring in the 360's or the Racesaver 305's

Crusty- I agree. Great weather, nice crowd, track slick and smooth top to bottom. $2000 to win, $300 for 16th. No sprints at Lernerville and Mercer and this is what shows up?

A track that big is hard on motors and most sprint guys aren't big buck guys and the season is almost over and they are out of money. I know you guys don't believe me but if you don't have any money paying 300 to start isn't going to get you there

I'm sure it cost $300.00 minimum,if you can't afford it change classes go run a 4 cylinder or a Go Kart.
PPMS has offered them alot the last few years.

Crusty it's their money , if they want to spend it to race a sprint a couple times a year it's better than them not racing at all. I'm sure they save up all winter and when it's gone it's gone.

So u want the gzne to come watch the sprints and u torgue us with them THIRD in running order. That's y I stayed home. Your featured class SHOULD be first. I've always enjoyed at least ONE visit to PPMS but none in 2014 or the future

Your right it's just too bad that PPMS keeps offering a good payoff and no one shows!

Crusty- Carl Bowser agrees with you. Just said in victory lane it was "pretty sad" only 9 or 10 cars showed up tonight. Also preferred the heavier track like the last time they were here.

PPMS sprints are a joke.

1. No one shows

2. You have Matus and Bowser, basically the rest are junk feild fillers

3. PPMS saying their expecting a FULL feild of QUIALTY cars all WEEK long on here.

Place and car counts are going down hill there.

Hey longtimeracefan, the Sprint show was over by 10 PM, if you can't spend three hours at a race track, you might want to find an alternate source of entertainment.  And even though the count was disappointing, Brandon Matus and Carl Bowser put on one hell of a show.  Car counts may be down, but the quality of the racing certainly is not.   All the features were entertaining tonight.  Congratulations to Justin Lamb, Mike Johnson, Carl Bowser, Greg Martin, and Nick Kocuba.   John Mollick went from 8th to 3rd on the first lap of the feature, but tagged the wall pretty hard on lap 3.  Might have been interesting had he stayed in contention.

This was my first time at this track, my opinions real quick.

Great looking track and facility.

It has a lot of potential.

downfalls, I don't know why all the car counts are low but they are, not just the sprints but all!! , I think the highest count feature was 14 cars all the rest were between 5 to 10 cars, was like watching heats all night.  also the people were nice but the guy at the front gate greeted us by asking my girlfriend if she had alcohol in her cooler and when she said no he told me that i need to bitch slap my girlfriend and said what is she good for , not very appropriate or professional of a worker to speak that way in any work place.

The only way I would go back to that track is if there was a big show and i knew we would have a lot better car count.

Seems to me the best bet is to ask the superlate and sprint teams on here why they arent showing up and once you get the answers try to implement changes to correct those issues and see if it changes

So, you ignored all the negativity on the message board, went to the track anyway to see for yourself, and won't return.

Please, someone tell us again how message boards are the reason for low attendance.

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

Scruffy there isn't even much negativity , just a bunch of people surprised that no cars showed up for a very good pay off . Maybe the guys who don't show up are afraid of the very real possibility of dying if you wreck going that fast in one of those cars ....
