So yes your argument is you shouldn't race if the motor is close to a rebuild and/or $300 barely covers a RR and a pit pass!!!!

Hey Leg, I'm a race fan, I really enjoyed the races last night, I don't need 40 cars in every division to make a good show. I never said the stands were packed, but they had a very nice crowd, one of the biggest of the year. Carl Bowser and Brandon Matus were two by two coming to the flag stand for many laps during the feature, Bowser on the high side and Matus down low; if that type of racing doesn't get you on the edge of your seat, then you're not much of a fan. Steve Baker was on Mike Johnson's tail most of the Late Model feature, and Lynn Geisler, Ben Miley, and Alex Ferree put on a great show for the third spot. Crate race was also very exciting with Justin Lamb, Tommy Schirnhofer, and Alan Dellinger waging a great battle for the lead. Bill Robertson was all over Nick Kocuba for the last several laps of the Sportsman featire before Nick went on for the win. I don't know what more some of you people want. The problem with too many folks nowadays is all you want to do is complain. And Sparkle, I'm a race fan, I go to an occasional Pirate game, but you get ripped off from the moment you walk into the stadium. I never feel ripped off at a race track. End of story.

Since this thread has turned to a discussion of cost, here's an idea. It's just an idea and I do not have a clue what it takes money wise for a track to put on a show. Would it put cars through the gate, to put on a show.
Would this draw cars to race and in turn fans, to see a short good show? I'll assume if cars and fans show up, the promoter will make money.
1st-------------- $1000
2nd--------------- $600
3rd through 20- $300
Total purse $7000
Tow money $150, no 'B' mains, qualify out of the heats or load up. If the purse, tow and lower car cost draw cars, there will be enough heat races where the fans will not need to see a 'B' main.
$7000-($25X60 pit pass sales for driver and two crew= $1500)= $5500
$5500-(459 fans @ $12)= 0
Pay the same for 3 other classes, means the purse is paid when 1800 fans go through the gate.@ $12 a ticket. That leaves other expenses and profit to come from additional people in the pits, selling advertising, concessions and putting more then 1800 fans through the front gate.
Run 602; sprints, late models, big modifies and super stocks, all on open tires, with weight rules designed towards including all size drivers and to reduce the need for light weight parts. Yes money will be thrown at open tires and prep, but will it be more then is already being spent on tires to win?
edit: $150 tow- (3 driver and crew at $25 or $75), leaves $75 for drinks and eats at the track or on the way home. Winning and a little feel good if you don't, are all a racers interested in, in the first place and why they race.

That's worse than most tracks standard payout for one thing. Secondly that's an example of our countries pathetic everybody gets a trophy mentality. Nobody loses and everyone is a winner. Let's not even keep track of who is running in which position and pat everyone on the back for going out, no matter how slow or what pile of scrap they drag out there.Since this thread has turned to a discussion of cost, here's an idea. PPMS might pick up some teams from Port Royal that wouldn't have gone to Lincoln anyway that night. Wouldn't mind seeing this show at PPMS myself.

I might actually come watch this if I'm not racing anywhere ... Seeing 10 or 15 dudes with stones like holtgraver racing each other instead of lapped traffic should be a hell of a site .
PPMS is pretty close and easy enough to get to for most of the Ohio runners that will be running this Renegade series. I would think they should have a pretty solid car count for this race.

Sanctions make a world of difference when it comes to special shows, especially at a track that doesn't regularly run the class that the special is.

Well i just said like 4 days ago it was my first time at the track and i liked the facility and track had a lot of potential but i wouldn't go back unless there was a big show and i knew it would have higher car counts, I know for sure there will be more then 10 sprints there for this, so I might have to go back in 3 weeks lol. but they might wan't to cut a class or 2 and have another class as a special to , so they can have good car counts all night not just in the sprints.
