[BLM PR]

Track update. We have been hard at it clearing brush and weeds. The track is starting to look like something again. A long road ahead but one step closer. Heavy equipment moves in within the next few weeks!

 

Weekly classes have been decided although final rules have yet to be determined.

 

2015 Thunder Mountain classes.

 

305 Sprints (warriors)

Limited  Late models (Local steel block Late model class) plus aluminum blocks may compete with 50# added in front of mid plate. all cars must weigh 2400#

Street stock (rules to be determined)

Pure stock (rules to be determined)

fwd   (rules to be determined)

 

All rules will become official after contact with other local race facilities in efforts to unify classes between tracks.

 

we are eager to promote many specials during  the 2015 season.  we will entertain other classes as specials only.

Bo.....I assume by "Warrior Sprints" you mean with rules in line with what is being run at Mercer??

Yep...Why not discourage the better funded teams to race at your track!  The "Name" drivers....The ones the fans come to see!  And the drivers that have a following!  And draw a crowd!  Just follow in the footsteps of America's Raceway Park and see where it gets you!  Why not have a reasonable weight rule....like 2300....... and give the Cast Iron Cowboys a weight brake of 50 lbs??? or maybe some more spoiler?????  Thats what makes sence to me!  Don't penalize your better paying customers!  Make it a "Win Win" for everyone!  Need to "WIN FRIENDS AND iNFLUENCE PEOPLE" TO STAY IN BUSINESS!

2400 makes zero sense . You need all of the late models you can get so he doesn't make sense to have rules to keep guys away

They always had a full field of steel block lates up their because nobody runs a steel block class on fri. My opinion is the car count will be great!!!!!!

Liking the Progress!  Definitely think you'll get a good turn out of cars.  Especially people that don't want to tow to Dog Hollow, Lernerville or Clinton County. 

 

Bo go with your gut.  don't listen to the people on here!  Set the rules the way you want them.  This forum only proves that you cant please everyone.  Set the rules, and rule with an iron fist!  People will respect you for enforcing the rules, even if they aren't always in their favor.

The reason they closed was more a family issue!

They are running the Steel Block late models and allowing the aluminum cars to race if they place the weight on the mid palate.  It is a steel block division, a steel block purse. What would happen next is he removed the weight rule and the placement of the weight and still offered the steel blcok purse, you would be griping he wont get any aluminum cars for that purse structure.  It appears to me that he is trying to do what he know he can afford to offer.  There are many steel block cars in our racing area, look at Marion Center and Hummingbird on Saturday nights; generall a pretty good field at each track. Thunder mountain has drawn 15 to 18 of these guys in the past.  If the aluminum cars want to race for a steel block purse; then they can with the penalty.

the 2400 pound weight limit (some people just don't get it) that is like watching your buddy get kicked in the balls and say let me try that knowing better have these people never been to a late model track that was successful.

I agree with you on the 2400 weight rule; but he is not running "open lates" he is running a steel block class and allowing the open lates to race with them with the penalty.  The 50 pounds up front is a greater concern for me, it takes a lot of adjusting to balance the car with weight mounted to the front. IMO.  Best wishes to them on re-opening a great little race track.

Bo actually raced weekly at Lernersville in the open late division with a aluminum engine car.  He understands late models, he also knows that the only difference between our steel block engine cars and the aluminum engine cars are the composition of the engine block.  I do not have a dime in the place; I do not know what he can afford to offer but the steel block cars will race for a lot less money and are primarily the late models he can draw from this area.  The steel block class is the class that was offered here for years and there are many of them to draw; I am sure he would like to draw a lot of them on Friday nights adn contrary to popular belief; many of them travel with a lot of people.

So you really think the only difference between the car raced by Owens or Bloomquist or Lannigan is identical to what is ran in these steel block races EXCEPT they have a steel block instead of aluminum ??? If you believe that I have a stack of 10 hundred dollar bills I would like to sell you for 3 grand ....

I don't think that was the implication at all. Are you telling me that if they lower the weight to 2300 Owens and Bloomquist are going to show up? The aluminum block teams that plan on running with a field of steel blocks typically don't have any better stuff than the top steel block teams.

Huck, Im with you on most everything, but not this. Let this one lye. Steel blocks are there own entity, and guys who run them regularly have no problems  with this. Id just ban aluminum altogether and never allow it in the discussion. Have 3 or 4 3000 300 to start Super shows and require an aluminum blocks to weigh 2250. Run Steel block specials the same night cause it seperates the two without falsely inflating the car counts. The real issue in the whole topic is the fact that the guy is trying to unbury a racetrack and reopen it so guys in that area have another option, and all SuHoney can find to post on this subject is his concern for the 2400# enforcement. Classic! If i was Bo Id ban him immediately from ever attending an event. The guys gonna bitch either way, so make him do it from home.

No Jon, what I am saying is that the drivers built the steel block cars in this area because the rules for this area were steel block and 2400 pounds.  In the steel block cars there are chassis's that are two years old and less, there are many running the various shock packages some with a shock person on board, there are 9 degree, 13 degree and a quite a few with 18 degree engine packages, and not all aluminum cars are the same as Bloomquist or Owens either.

All I'm saying is the car Jimmy Owens rolled on to the track at eldora is pushing 100k the car bloomer dominated with would probably be 125k if it was for sale. The steel block cars I have seen would pull maybe 25k at best if sold race ready
