Looks like PPMS, on the nights that they run late models, will lose one car.  Do you think Eldora will cancel the World 100?

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

If that even. I could see Mollick and Ferree looking for new Saturday night homes.

Midnight it's because they assume they will get the same pitiful amount of fans with or without them ... The only problem is the couple races I went to everyone left after the super late feature

Every time the sport loses a driver, there usually is not  one to take his place  the past few years.

PPMS has a problem, but it exists everywhere. A lot of the fan favorites are nearing the retirement age. While there are some good young drivers out there, the ones that are leaving the sport are not being replaced fast enough. And like Huck says the "limited" PPMS schedule may speed up some of these retirements or cause drivers to go elsewhere. Lynn Geisler, Ben Miley, and Ed Ferree are in there 60's. Baker, Stephens, and John Flinner are in there 50's. Mark Banal just ran a few times in the past couple seasons. Lou Bradich has aleady retired. Mike Pegher was groomed to replace Geisler, but most of these others have not groomed someone to replace them.Of the guys that raced there, Colton Flinner, Brandon Burgoon, Tony Musolino and Michael Norris are young, but Norris didn't race there much last season. You also have Alex Ferree, John Mollick, Mike Johnson, Jared Miley, Keith Barbara and Huck, but Johnson and Huck ran limited schedules last season, while Barbara and Miley often missed nights to go to bigger shows. They may not have 5-6 Super Lates on a regular basis next season or the season after unless several guys move up from the Crates. Lernnerville is in a bit better shape, as they seem to have a younger group running there right now. But I can see this happening elsewhere too.

B Miley, Molick and Feree were the only cars to attend every race. Flinner missed one. That's it! So not sure where any cars are going to come from now. I happened to watch the 2005 Pittsburgher heats recently when I found an old DVD. It's amazing how many local guys are no longer there. Night and day different.

These are all older drivers. Its not out of the ordinary for them to retire around their current ages. Just less drivers to fill their spaces since they 1) don't have the money to move up to super lates OR 2) would rather waste the excessive amounts of money they have to stay and win in lesser divisions. There is no more "moving from a stock car into a super late" days.

I agree with this, with the very few recent exceptions I can think of that moved up. (Pegher, Flick, McPherson)

What is the perk of moving up?

Just out of curiosity because I truly do not know...

What is the cost to run in the top divisions and be competitive compared to say the 80's and 90's adjusted for inflation?

The costs have risen exponentially and more sponsors realize that it's a donation not a business investment. The only reason to move up is wanting to beat the best guys in the pits . Crate cars created a whole new issue , the crate motor put those cars within the reach of inexperienced drivers and the cars being under powered allows guys to be fast with limited Experiance but going fast on a clear track and racing in tight packs of cars are not the same thing hence the weekly carnage.

Looks like the crates will be the only class with double digits of cars shown up.
