Major crate and super late model meeting times and places!

A general discussion meeting with be held for crate late models and super late models for the Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York areas to be in the next couple of weeks. The meetings will discuss point funds, purses, World Championship ideas, touring ideas for both crates and supers and the rules.

The ULTIMATE super late model series in the SE has become the premier touring series for super late models in the area. Per driver and track request, ULTIMATE SUPER SERIES will be expanding in the NE Region and will compliment the crate late model cars and teams. There has been a lot of talk about the Chevy 525 which already has a provision in the ULTIMATE rules along with open engines.

Discussions with tracks about both FASTRAK crates and ULTIMATE supers  have been well received. There are tracks that want to start running crate late models on a weekly basis and of course FASTRAK is the first series to ever have crate late models and remains the series that sets the bar for all others. The ULTIMATE purses and idea have been well received from tracks and we are looking for driver commitments so we can tell the tracks what to expect.

“They say our purses pay better or at least thicker “stated Stan Lester Founder of FASTRAK and ULTIMATE. “Purses can’t just be a everything up front deal anymore. It’s getting more expensive to race and travel than ever before and we try to make the purses as thick as possible. “They tell us the purses are better in both ULTIMATE and FASTRAK than anyone else’s” said Lester. “Honestly I have never looked, but I hear that a lot from the teams. If that is the case then that’s great”.

The typical FASTRAK crate late model purse is $2000 to win $250 to start and the ULTIMATE supers purse is $4000 to win $400 to start. “I do want to make one thing clear” stated Lester. “We are a regional super late model series and I want to keep it that way. We are not competing with WOO or Lucas. Those series do a great job and we have an opportunity to work with them from time to time. We appreciate those people and have no goals of competing on that level. We just want a simple regional series where we can have a little fun and teams take home a decent check at the end of the night. Maybe one day we can see that during the FASTRAK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND, it will be crate late models, super late models, big block mods and trucks all racing for an entire week. That would be our ultimate goal”.

ya know, why not run the same super late car under the bodywork, with the same tires as super's use, only with the speck engine and get rid of any limiting body specks.  If someone wants to run a sheet of lexan down the side or a huge spoiler up front or in the back, let um.  .... or maybe only one rule of no clear bodywork.  If someone wants to run around the track with a huge billboard, not being able to see, let um.

Legend, here are a few things I would like to see as far as the ct525 stuff, 1st weight look at ultimate south rules 2,200 for ct525. First who the hell can get a car down to 2,200? Next we both know its not so much what you weigh its were the weight is at on car. We have won a lot of races over 2,400 sometimes you need it. So weight brake to me is a joke. Next spoilers 12 inch or 8 for open we never ran a 12 inch spoiler so not much info on weather this helps or not. The big deal to me to even the playing field is tires my our conversation with Stan my understanding is ultimate ne will still run ft tires 200,400,or 600 this I like think it could keep some cost down however we feel open cars should have to run 400 or 600 no 200s only ct525 can run the 200s this would balance the class out. What our your thoughts?

How can it keep the cost down when those tires cost 150.00 each. I know you'll say the crate guys get a lot of racing on theirs but now your putting more horsepower thru them plus that's just more tires everybody else has to buy on top of their regular ones.

Wildside you are right on the weight. It is possible but it would cost so much to get it to 2200 and still be able to set up half decent, that it couldn't keep cost down. They would be better off going to 2600 on the opens but who wants to bolt an extra 300 on. And from what I have heard the ft tires are terrible and dont last but I dont have personal experience with them so cant really have much opinion.

It will keep cost down with only three compounds to pick from. Unlike ar 23,33,38,44,48 ect, Hoosiers 11,12,1250,13,1325,1350,1400 the list goes on and on.

To save money I like the Lucas rule minus the Lucas specific right rear. Lucas is normally 1300.1425 rib only with a 1600 rr option. I wouldn't even mind if it was 1425/1600 only but if your going hard you need to test the winner every week for juice. Juicing tires is an epidemic. The weight rule is stupid , the purpose of a cheap motor is to keep costs down and getting to 2200 with proper percentages takes buying expensive parts that are fragile . The giant spoilers are too big of an advantage when it gets dead slick in my opinion . If you want to keep them
Equal just leave the water truck parked. The dryer the track the easier it is on the car and engine and the more critical role the driver and set up play. The woo tire deal is absurd where you can use every tire Hoosier makes. I've never ran a fastrack tire but I'm against any tire that costs extra to be put into some supposed point fund. It's actually reverse socialism. The guys without money pay more for tires to pay a point fund to the better funded teams lol . The best thjng you can do for the little guy is keep tires as cheap as possible.

Lm racing if you make the weight rule more than typical Lucas or WOO stuff guys with good equipment aren't going to run the series. With how slick prp was for the DTWC a 604 would have been enough motor except for starts. The track conditions need to be the equalizer not some BS crutches handed out to the lower powered cars.

The ULMS is started back up again and now the ultimate super late model series and I just read on Twitter that the UFO will be back for next year. The smart play here to save racers a shit ton of money would be to have a unified tire rule. The best one to use is either brand 1300 or 44 and harder. It allows guys to have their tire deals so they save money and also keeps them from needing extra tires for their local weekly races. The ULMS will more than likely go this route, the UFO I have no idea who is running it so I can't comment on it and the ultimate super late model series with it being run by Lester will probably be pro Hoosier because Shannon Rush got his fingers in there.

Jon, the WoO isn't open Hoosier, it's open tire, except at UMP tracks. You can use every tire AR makes too for most of their schedule.

Not a weekly track, but Tri-City has chosen to go with Fastrak not Rush. Also Sharon which was basically the Rush Flagship track dropped the Rush Crate Lates from their weekly lineup.
