And I think you can forget a about a Renegade race at Mercer after the Renegades scheduled against Mercer in August.  And the Outlaws, forget about that as long as the World Racing Group owns Lernerville and the series!!

Walt

I don't think there's any beef with WRG and/or Lernerville and Mercer. I don't know that Mercer really holds enough fans to pull off a WoO show though.

From a safety stand point I agree, Mercer's are metal, no breaking or falling through.  As far as comfort, Mercer is terrible. Your feet rest roughly 2 inches below your seat, which places your knees at about eye level.

I don't think some of you guys quite understand the situation.  There is no "beef" or bad blood!!!   It is just that the World Racing Group owns both Lernerville and The World of Outlaws!!  They want to keep the WoO races in this area an "exclusive" with Lernerville and don't want to sanction any WoO Sprint Car races at any other tracks in this area.  It has been that way long before there ever was a WRG!!  going back to the days of Don Martin and Ted Johnson,  it is widely believed that the two had an unwritten agreement that Martin had an exclusive for this area and Johnson wouldn't schedule any WoO races closer to western PA than central PA or Wayne County well into Ohio.  With the exception of a couple of races at Sharon, no other area track except Lernerville has ever held a WoO Sprint Car race in the western PA area.  Not positive, but I think the Sharon races were after Martin passed away and before Johnson sold off the WoO to the WRG.  I don't know for sure, but the fact that Dave Blaney was one of Johnson's WoO drivers before he went to NASCARland, is probably how Sharon got some races.  So forget about the "beef" and "bad blood", it is just "business"!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

They sure did. Sides won it. Sunday before Memorial Day. Why the hell would they add crate lates. Sharon is dropping them because they can't get a full field.

For my liking they could run small blocks and sprints and pay the proper purse for those classes. They would draw a nice field of cars.

I think the point was that the WRG isn't going to schedule a race at Mercer, only about an hour away from Lernerville, and take the chances of watering down the crowds for the two Outlaw shows already scheduled there.  I think they want Lernerville to have a monopoly on all Outlaw shows in this area.

It used to be that way, but they don't do that with the WoO late models, so I dont think they'd do it with the sprints. I'd think if Mercer really wanted one, they could probably could get one. As I said, though, I don't know that it's really all the viable for Mercer to have a WoO (sprints or late models, or even the SDS) show.

If I'm remembering right I usually pay around $34 for a WoO sprint ticket, at Lernerville.

Let's say they run WoO at Lernerville on a Friday, I'd pay $40 to see them again on Saturday at Mercer.  The thing is with the size of their grandstands, could Mercer afford to sell tickets for a WoO Sprint show at $40?

I probably would end up paying more then the $40, maybe 42 or 43, to see them at Mercer, but I'd sure moan and complain about it.  If you look at what other areas of the country are willing to pay for a WoO sprint show, 40+ ain't out of what's a fair price for a ticket.

But in this area, if the ticket was $45 and there was an Allstar or Renegade show near by, I'd skip the WoO and head for the other.

Fremont and Attica can put on a outlaw show and their stands arnt much bigger if any bigger than mercer. Mercer also has the lawn chair seating as well.

I certainly hope they improve the concessions, they are the worst of any track I have ever been to.

I Will agree there. I think BILL is clueless

It'd be cool to see Mercer go to 410s, 305s, 358 mods and pay each a respectable purse. Maybe bring in a 4th class that is a true pure stock, not a wannabe late model . Then if you really need the 4-cylinders to help cover the purse bring them out at the end of the night after everybody's feature and give them a 25-30 lap feature determined by pill draw. Then the drivers get more laps and the fans that didn't come to watch them don't have to sit through 3 or 4 heats of the damn things. Get people in and out of there so you can bring the "casual fan" back a couple times without leaving a bad taste in their mouth.

Some higher lap races would be nice too. Do like one a month. 50 laps or so. One month do mods the next month do sprints and a month for stocks.

Talking with Frank today while going over registrations making some plans for the Jack Frost Enduro and Snowflake Mini Stock race on January 3rd, (check the website for registration information) he was telling me a couple people have called the track to find out what the big changes are. As a Fank said to me,"As soon as somebody knows what these changes are I wish they would let me know."

So other than the interest from Kasey Kahne to buy the track, nobody seems to know what the big news is. Oops........

Reply to jlandonl,   That is the way Raceway 7 did it many years ago.  They always had a packed stand.  They ran late models, semi stock and 6 cly. stocks. They always  ran conci's in all divisions.  They had buses bringing people from Erie.  Running too many divisions.  Make the rules to work for the "cheap" equipment..
