I dont think he's saying first and last should pay the same. I agree it would be nice to see more emphasis on pay through the top ten rather than brag about how much it is to win. Besides, at this level, it's about getting enough to come back next week. The race is for the trophy, not the money.

Skull if you like short shows go to ppms . They get 35 cars total in 6 divisions and even with an hour long intermission ur still out by 9:15 lol

It's really a shame what that place has become.

A buddy and I were discussing the state of local racing, and the subject of PPMS came up. I was of the opinion that that place, with it's proximity to so many potential customers, should be nicer than any track in the region with a program that would rival any track. His response was that, imagine how many people have gone there for the first time and maybe never went to another dirt track race anywhere because PPMS was their first impression. Think about it.

Jon, in your opinion, how does he profit from the weekly shows? It has to be back gate, right?

I don't think they make a dime from weekly shows if anything lose a couple hundred. And they make a few grand on the big races. I added up the purses paid out and looked in the stands and by the time you figure fuel to work the track , insurance , electricity , advertising , mortgage and Interest plus property taxes I don't see anyway in hell money is being made. 1.27 million invested in even the smallest growth safest funds would generate a FAR FAR bigger return without any work lol. They say it's a hobby but why not just go
Play golf or something ??

Other than the select few bad eggs, nobody has said they want to see the place close.  We want to HELP the place.  We want to HELP them improve their show, HELP them  improve their concessions, HELP them improve their attendance, and ultimately HELP them improve profits.  Bill, Frank, and crew have gotten their feet wet after the ownership change.  They just need to keep refining what they have to offer.  Doing the same thing year after year with the same results isnt cutting it.

Now Im sure Dutko will be on here yelling at me for 'bashing' the place, but just think about this for a minute:  Why in any other business world are opinions or comments from customers about a business considered suggestions, but in racing opinions or comments from customers are considered 'bashing'???

I agree with everything you say here. Websites like Yelp exist for the sole purpose of critiquing businesses.

Much more cheaper and peaceful way to take up time. That or fishing.

Isn't America great ! We all have the right to voice our thoughts on any topic we want, as racers, fans, owners, etc. all said, put a fork in this topic its done. Seems like it's the same over and over again. Some of us like sprints, some modifieds, some support divisions why ?, but America gives that right.

When were the Race Savior rules adopted ?

we had a meeting at precise racing and when we left the meeting it was decided that we would be race saver and the 5.3s running together with the 5.3s being phased out in 2 years. the next week it was posted some where  that the 305s at mercer would be with all pro heads being allowed with the 5.3s but the racesavers were also allowed to run if they wanted to.

Really like it when the truth surfaces.

I was hoping the big change was going to be stepping up the tech inspection process. The Ohio built 305 motors clearly have an advantage over the osw and racesaver motors and no one seems to be paying any attention

It looks like mercer has posted their 2015 rules and there are no changes in the 305 sprint class.the 25000 dollar Fremont engines are wrecking the class for young budget drivers

Part of the Racesaver program was that the winner didn't get more that twice what it paid to start.  So winner gets $100, the starter gets $50.  The winner gets $500, the starter gets $250.  The winner gets $1000, the starter gets $500.  Probably won't be any $1000 to win if they agree with that.  But if they do,  we'll be there.

Why do you say they have an advantage? Every engine has to meet the same specs. They all get sealed at the same place. Even Racesaver is loaded with $12,000 and up motors any more. Unfortunately or maybe not there is always going to be somebody who has the resources to spend more money on their program than others.

Don't mind if they spend, spend, spend.  Just don't reward them by putting all the money on top.

There are atleast 4 racesaver engines running weekly at mercer. Some had heat and feature wins in 2014 there.

Attica mostly runs 4 divisions. 410s, 305s, Super Lates & Trucks.

William Grove is lucky to get 20 cars in their support 358 class. There were a few friday nights with less than 45 total cars in the pits.

pantznat I saw a Gressman motor advertised on the hood of the 34m 305 at Mercer. I know the western ohio 305's seem to go by different rules than Mercer they seem to be built to different specs. When some of those cars came over for the little guys a couple of years ago I heard they had to add weight to run. I usually have some guys I see at Mercer every week that talk sprint car racing in general and  one of them is a former 410 sprint owner. When I saw a Gressman motor advertised on the 34m that's the first thing I asked him that night , if that motor was legal. He seemed to think that it is built to Mercer's specs.

if the motor was teched by blackshear then it is a legal motor for mercer. the motors out at attica and fremont are allowed more compression and they use bigger

injections and make more horse power.
