I'm a fan of Miley, so don't take this the wrong way. Why, when Robbie Blair does this, does race stud implode on itself, but there's silence when Miley does it? I'm all for it, just wondering what the difference is.

I'm a fan of Jared Miley also, but I don't think local established SLM veterans should be permitted to run Crate races. I always thought the spirit and intent of the Crate class was for teams that don't have the financial resources to field a Super.

It's been debated at every level. I don't think they should be told they're not allowed, but I don't understand the desire to do it once you've established yourself at a higher level. I guess it's just for money. Or maybe for fun. Why do cup guys drive in other races? They don't need the extra money. Victory lane is a fun place to be.

Crate late models should be paying about $500 to win weekly and the specials should be no more than $1,000 to win.   The pay down should not drop off much, but that's all they should have ever paid to win.

These races that pay more than that have lead to what the division is today.   Super Late Models with crate motors.  When races start paying high dollar on top, the well-funded teams start building crate cars.

It's sad to see Super Late Model drivers that can still afford to run Super LM racing in the crates.

That's disingenous. A Crate team should be able to figue out what their expenses are running a Super, same as they did starting out with a Crate.

It's simply conversation to me, at the end of the day, I could give a rat's ass if Miley or Rob Blair enter and win every Crate race in the region. But this conversation has appeared on this board before, when myself, among others suggested years ago that teams with the means to run Supers would either field both types of cars and outspend guys that could only afford to run Crates, or stay in Crates. It's one of the reasons why Crates are outpricing themselves the way they are. I'm not necessarily saying either of those drivers are outspending other teams to win; their respective accomplishments speak for themselves. What I am saying is that the perceived performance differential drives teams to spend more to get an edge and, rules changes to curb those differences could be discussed for hours, but that is, in part, what is happening.

They may the ink they can buy a used super engine and oiling system and be a super ... Until the motor needs freshened and it's 13k. There's a hundred different ways to break a super motor they may not know about and have to learn the hard way also ...

The best super motors are built with pressure treated lumber and the highest grade screws that money can buy. They also make a great place to party after the races

I think there need to be more bone dry, slick, dusty, follow the leader freight train tracks around here.  Look at all the favorable reviews the Knob and Lernerville got last weekend.  We'd have 28 SLM a night at all tracks and no one would be wasting money on tear offs and Crate engine programs! :D

Are you implying Rob Blair and Jared can't afford to run Super Lates anymore? I find it hard to believe.

Though the truth is that Radracers post is correct. Likely has a crate car to run at PPMS and took it to the Dog yesterday. Not like anyone else was running.

Who wants an autograph?

I'm not implying anything other than no matter how many races you win in a super you are still taking significant losses.

No shit. Most ain't gonna make anything with a crate, either. They just might not lose as much.

Personally I like the idea of the big names running crates. No different than all the big money guys having the same Cornett motors. It's all about talent. But this way a guy with a lesser investment can run the same motor as Jared and the rest on a much lesser scale. I think it's funny Hoosiers beat AR at their own event.
