(Mars, PA) The UFo Championship will return to planet earth in May 2015. Hesston Speedway will present the “DR Eriksen Grand Prix” on Sunday, May 24.   This event honors the “Dirt Doctor”, who rebuilt the track from 2010-2013.

The “DR Eriksen Grand Prix” will see the UFo Super Late Models race 56 laps for $4,056 to win. 24th position will pay $400, while non-qualifiers will receive $150. The starting grid will up to 30 of the best Super Late Model drivers in the region. 33 cars will see a 26 car feature, 37 cars will see a 28 car feature and 41 cars will see a 30 car feature. Positions 25+ will pay $375.

Hesston has become famous for being a late model powerhouse with its dual late model division special events.   The “DR Eriksen Grand Prix” will continue this tradition, with a 30 lap Semi-Late feature paying $1,000 to win and $125 to start.   Hesston’s Semi-Lates are a mix of limited, steel block and crate late models.   Weight and spoiler variations are used to even competition.

A-Cadets (street) will race 25 laps for $575 to win and $80 to start. Hobby-Modifieds (pure stock) will race 20 laps for $300 to win and $45 to start.   The Roadrunners will race 15 laps for $200 to win and $38 to start. Cadets and Hobby-Modifieds also have weight and/or spoiler variations to allow cars with different equipment to race together competitively.

On May 24, pit gates will open at 2:00 with grandstands opening at 4:30.   Pill draw will end at 5:45 with racing or Super Late Model warm-ups at 6:30. Grandstand admission will be $20 with children 12 and under free in grandstands. All pit tickets will cost $36.   Super Late Model entry fee will be $25.

Hesston will also give the Super Late Models an additional chance to hit the high banks on Saturday May 16. With Port Royal Speedway taking their spring break, Hesston will be hosting the Super Late Models for “the Hesston Trophy.”   The 30 lap feature will pay $1,500 to win, $200 to start and $150 to non-qualifiers.   Semi-Lates, A-Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners will also compete in their “Hi-Octane” racing programs.

On May 16 pit gates will open at 3:00 with grandstands opening at 5:00.   Pill draw will end at 5:45 with racing at 6:30.   Grandstand admission will be $14, with children 12 and under free in the grandstands. All pit tickets will cost $28.

The next UFo Super Late Model event is scheduled for Friday, June 12 at Dog Hollow Speedway. The “Shawn McGarvey Championship” will pay $3,000 to win for a 41 lap feature.   This race honors Shawn McGarvey, who is a multi-time Dog Hollow champion and finished 5th in the initial year of UFo points.

The “New” UFo Championship is an alliance between Hesston Speedway, Dog Hollow Speeday, Tyler County Speedway and Port Royal Speedway. The tour offers Super Late Model drivers great payoffs and a strong year-end point fund with minimal travel distances. Point fund sponsors include Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, American Racer, Lias Tire, Precise Racing Equipment and Townsend Gas and Oil.   Point fund payoff is contingent on track and sponsor obligation fulfillment.

Is it true that support classes at Hesston will not be running heat races on the 24th? If so maybe it should be posted in your press releases? Can't imagine you're gonna come right of the gate with a 36 dollar pit pass and boning your support classes? You track surface is garbage anyhow It's not as if you are gonna be saving the surface. And no warmups either raises a real flag that you're not wanting to be a real race track, you're screwing the cars you're getting over. Hopefully This owner gets wise and realizes what teams want and need and not just what you want and need.

People are there to see the super lates not some show filler. The track would be doing all the fans a favor by not making them sit thru all the heat races too!

Then don't run show fillers is what I'm saying dickbag if you're not giving them a heat race to even run, it's false advertising to promote an event and not tell those getting tea bagged already that they're really gonna get tea bagged even more when they come thru the gate,. Hesston wants to survive and make a go of this, they need to play to there local audience. And there local audience is in the Business of watching and racing stocks and limited lates, Been that way forever. Super late shows there work but you got to have the back gate of some of your classes to cover this promoters purses, Problem is the promoter who somehow was sold with the track to the new owners has zero idea of the area, the people, the fans, or the history of the place. You play nice with the support classes they'll always support you.

Our flyer above for the event says which classes are running features only.  The website schedule also indicates that.  All classes are being paid extra payoffs for the event.  We have tried to include all the divisions in these major events as possible, and this was the best solution instead of dropping divisions.

Anyone is welcome to call the owners at the number listed on the website with their concerns.

Thank you

Don't know why any local suppoort class racers would support Hesston.  Rules cater to cars from Mars and west. Weight breaks appear to be developed by someone who never heard of math.  I wish Ritchey and Claycomb the best but......

Cutting classes and running a complete show is the best move, what planet do you come from that you think a a guy wants to pay 36 bucks to get into your Event only to not be given a heat. I'm the biggest super late fan on the planet but lower classes stir the drink

Here is what I think we should do. Everyone get on facebook and here and bitch about Hesston after two races and new owners. Don't talk to the owners about your concerns, that would not be the thing to do.
