since it is now under new ownership what sort of upgrades would you guys like to see to the racetrack??

me personally I would like to see them bring in Lucas late models and also upgrade the bleachers and the food stands. also maybe upgrade the purses so that they get more cars and drop ump tire rules.

The bleachers and concessions need attention, no question, especially to accomodate big events. A Lucas race would be great, in fact, the Firecracker would benefit from their sanction. I'd like to see them dump the tire rules, too. I think any loss in initial income would be offset by increased fields. I don't think that will happen, at least right away.

I'd like to see a more visible fan and racer friendly environment the way it was when it was owned by the Martin's. There are literally dozens of stories about people who benefitted from Don's generosity and supported the place for decades because of it. WRG did some good things, but their sterile "What is best for business" attitude had grown stale, and really didn't always mesh with what the racers and fans wanted.

I would like to see some fresh leadership and a marketing effort to push the sport not only to existing fans but to the public as a whole... Maybe some lap by lap live streaming, some YouTube weekly video clips of race highlights practices or track status update era.... Maybe even live webcam stuff. These are low expense things... Then partnering with some tv folks to hit the public. Partner with local fairs for local events and do wild stuff like race car cruise ins in the local town of the racetrack before the race. I'm a firm believer we as racers are losing ground not because of expenses or other activity, but due to lack of effort, forgetting the fans and lack of marketing outside the regular fan base. :) a night at the races, regular show or not should be an "event" not just somewhere to go and spend $$

I'd like to see completely new boards on the bleachers.

I'd like to see some clay added to the surface.

I'd like to see the BRP tour make a comeback. I'd really like to see the SDS make a comeback. Maybe even bring in Brett Deyo's series. Something anything cool for the modifieds.

I'd like to see USAC again.

More diverse food and beverage choices would be very cool.

I'd like to see them realize that the crate rules announced for the stocks for next year are stupid.

I'd like a late model tire rule that allows for 2 compounds each in Hoosier and American Racer, after a run-off period for the current UMP tires.

Dump the UMP sanction and get rid of the Hoosier only tire rule for all the divisions.

Bring in some new blood with fresh ideas. As Skull stated the place has become stagnant since WRG took over.

Have a big open wheel show with USAC sprints, midgets, and silver crown.

Lucas Oil Late Models.

Keep the street stocks as is with the crate as an OPTION.

Again dump the UMP sanction and get rid of the Hoosier only rule for all divisions.

I don't see how the Lucas series benefits the Firecracker any more than the WoO does. Their stamped tire rule is even more retarded than the UMP rule, and the format is straight up all night. And the top Lucas drivers generally show up anyways. That one is really a wash.

I'd like to see the late model tire rule change to something that allows just a couple compounds in both Hoosier and American Racer.

Dropping the Hoosier rule in sprints would be stupid. Just about every 410 track in the nation runs that rule. Going out on an island never helps anybody.

More special for the sprint cars and an increase in the purse throughout the entire field. This would benefit the race teams that want to upgrade their equipment to stay current and competitive.

Let the drivers decide what they want to run....

There has always been marginal support at best for the WoO sprint shows at Lernerville so how would it change anything to let the locals have a choice for weekly shows. The ones that run the WoO and All Star shows will run Hoosiers any way.

If a local driver can save money if he runs AR's weekly let him/her have that choice.

I'm not saying a wide open tire rule as limits will have to be made in compound choices.

If they put up enough money for the Firecracker, they shouldn't need a sanction.

I don't back a tire rule other than maybe compound(s) for any reason. "Everyone else does it" is bullshit. Let the racers get the most bang for their buck by getting tire deals or discount pricing.

Totally on board with making the the track and drivers more visible to the community. When you allow fans to rub elbows with the drivers and teams, it builds a bond. Great ideas there.

All for USAC and SDS/BRP/ROC events. Not nearly enough open wheel racing around here anymore. I like Lates, but the region is over saturated with events for them.

i would like to see better track prep, open tire rule with a compound rule, and a more fan friendly environment. i suggested to BIGE to rotate the divisions weekly, and to mandate the last division of the night to not leave til 20 mins past their feature that way fans can go into the pits and get autographs etc etc. nowadays its impossible to get young fans involved.

First, the seats are much better than most tracks!! Some need replaced and they all need painting!

Put em up against Dog Hollow, Sportsmans, Marion Center, etc they are way better!!

Food is as diverse as I have ever seen...I have never been to a track, and that includes NASCRAP that has a better

varity than Lernerville!!  Does need a little working, but is the best in our area.......

Go back to the Don Martin Memorial format that was originally in place. Get rid of the double feature format, run a 40 lap feature and pay $40k to win, adding $1k to the winner share (or the field) every year. Make it a premier race again, instead of what its become now....a gimmick. Maybe then it'll pull in some serious car counts.

Also, I second the return of the Action Track Snack!

If they ever bring back the Action Track Snack heed these words of warning........

Under no reason or circumstances ever put yourself between the Action Track Snacks and Round Robin or you could be subjected to missing digits, hands, or arms.

You have been warned!!   :P

Instead of us all seeing how we can spend more of the new owners money, why not go out of our way as fans or drivers and thank him!
I'm sure the thank you and kind words will go a long way, he's a bussiness man he will take care of his investment give him time and a thank you.

Very nicely said.  Will gladly do that as soon as I meet the man.  Saying thank you doesn't cost a thing and earns a lot of respect
