Chet Christner took time out from his busy schedule to talk with us at TDN recently about his role in the fairly new pay per view broadcasting company, Speed Shift TV.  He shared some insight into the industry and offered some interesting information on the impact of PPV broadcasts on race tracks.

"For our broadcasts, we can tell exactly where people are watching from, right down to the town they live in. And, on an average broadcast we've found that thee to four percent of the viewing audience is within an hour of the race track. Within two hours you're looking at maybe seven percent. The reality of that is, that many drivers have the broadcast on in the hauler and that's actually included in the local 3 to 4 percent. Odds are if they lived two hours or less away from the race track, then they couldn't make the show anywayAlso, most events which are broadcast (well run and organized) see a noticeable increase in fan and car counts the following year"

I thought that Rigsby's team knocked it out of the park last night. What a deal, you sell the grandstands out and still make the race as good as being there for those who couldn't in person. Kudos to DOD!
