I was supposed to announce tonight since Mike Dutko's daughter is getting married today. But Frank Benic called about 9:30, said it was pouring there and they had canceled!!  Rain overnight here in Butler, still very wet but no rain in the past couple of hours.   Anyone hearing any word on Sharon, Pittsburgh, etc.????   Gotta get my fix since Lernerville went down last night!!   Second bad weather weekend in the last three for the local racing circuit.

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!

Walt

What's the point of " holding off " if everything is soaked and more rain is coming you may as well let the guys start drinking early

Hey Ron, be sure to add a tag line bitching about Sharon being cancelled already and then throw in updates as the list grows today. Why aren't you out mowing lawns since the races are cancelled?

Longtimeracefan101 should change is  his name to:  Longtimebitcher101.  All he can do is bitch about Mercer canceling, and not any other speedway.  What is your bitch about Mercer?

And remember that Sharon also canceled up that way!!  Good indication of a lot of rain up there.  The profit margin is just so thin anymore that tracks can't make a go of it on bad weather night with both the crowds and car counts being down nowadays.  There just aren't enough of us diehards around anymore and the whole sport of weekly short track racing is shaky!!!    Going on here to bitch about an early cancelation doesn't do anyone any good!!   Few local track owners are rich guys, so they have to make a profit to stay in business.

The band of rain is about at Port Royal and Lincoln.

Fremont looks like it will be ok and that's where I'm heading.  Sandusky is still racing and if you leave now you could make Lawernceburg, which is where I'd be heading if it didn't look like Fremont would get in the show.

If you want to watch racing, there's plenty to see today if you put a nickel in the gas tank and some time in it.

If Fremont rains out, I'll look and see if Sandusky is still running.  Then there's still Lorain to go to.  Midvale is also running.  There all fun.

This is a most difficult sport and we would like to have a utopian atmosphere it is just not going to be a reality and the complaining is doing more harm than good for this sport and local weekly racing ,for what it is worth Scott Bonnell was sponsoring the race at Mercer tonight for a great charity he retains none of the profit and the staff donates in a gesture of support it will be rescheduled and please support it with some positive remarks.

When it rains I have an opportunity to do something else and realize if my entire life was only racing how much I would miss.

See you in Church we dont rain out

I seldom respond to negative postings as it usually serves little purpose for bettering local racing todays cancelation is well thoughtout with the rain last night and the threat of more coming the negative posting is a detriment to local racing I may or may not qualify as a long time racing fan as I have only been doing it for about 65 years but with my limited experience please endulge me as I speak.

Now will you humor an old man and please know you will be dissapointed many times for many reasons I have learned to be thankful for all I have and also learned to dance in the rain so to speak if our lives have only racing to make it important we all need to reevaluate.

Todays race at Mercer was sponsered by my friend Scott Bonnell for a Childrens Charity and he will do it again and ask nothing in return also the staff at Mercer gives their time the least we can do is support it, on the bright side when it rains I find other things to do in order to make my life more complete .

See you in Church tomorrow we don't have rain outs

I think at times it is easy to tell the individual's on here that let's just say they have been around. Between chaplain bill, Walt and Mike d. and yes there is more. That group has probably seen it all. Promoters are never right as long as that sun breaks thru the clouds. These guys are not surviving as a business on taking a chance of racing or cancelling. I don't no how insurance regulations have changed, but, at one time you needed to inform your carrier of your intentions well ahead of race time. Not to mention employees, food preparation and many more factors. There is racing somewhere, be like dirt student. He may be on the road already. But, he is legging it to someplace. I say just be thankful for all we have. O did I mention, you can't do a dam thing about the weather.
