FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dog Hollow Moved to June 19 Setting Up 2 Race Weekend with Port Royal on June 20

(Mars, PA) Due to the dismal weather forecast for the original rain date of Sunday, Dog Hollow Speedway has again rescheduled the “Shawn Sheetz McGarvey Championship” for this Friday, June 19.  Now this will be a two-race weekend as Port Royal Speedway has their inaugural UFo event “Tri-Star Sizzler” schedule for the following night, Saturday, June 20.

After an excellent field of 32 UFo Super Late Models had registered at Dog Hollow on the original date last Friday, monsoon-type rains moved through flooding the race track.   Promoter Dan Savino originally was planning to utilize a Sunday rain date, but did not want race teams and fans to take the chance of traveling to Dog Hollow twice in one weekend for a washout.

On Friday, June 19, the pit gates will open at 4:30, with grandstands opening at 6:00, pill draw cutoff at 7:00 and action starting at 7:30.  Since the program was declared a complete rainout, the program will be reset from the beginning including new pill draw registration.   Any new drivers may enter.

The “Shawn Sheetz McGarvey Championship” will showcase the UFo Super Late Model feature paying $3,000 to win and $250 to start.  This event honors the 7-time Dog Hollow champion and all-time feature winner at the track.  Shawn also holds other track titles and feature wins as well as finishing fifth in the inaugural UFo Championship.

The UFo Super Late Models will compete in a 41-lap feature at Dog Hollow.  Dog Hollow has become a Friday night Super Late Model power in the region, with large fields of cars at every race this season.  Dog Hollow has also stepped up their Super Late Model program featuring five championship events for the season including the “ThunderDog Showdown” fall mega-event.  The excellent surface at Dog Hollow has been producing three and four wide racing this year.  The Laurel Highlands Racesaver 305 Sprints will make their second appearance of 2015 that night.  CARS Crate Late Models, Pure Stocks and Sidewinder four cylinders will also be in competition June 19.

The UFo “Shawn Sheetz McGarvey Championship” will include bargain family pricing with no increase in that ticket package from regular shows.   A family with two adults and two children between ages 7-12 will be admitted for $30 including two hot dogs and two drinks.   A family with two adults and three children between agest 7-12 can purchase a ticket for $35 including three hot dogs and three drinks.  Students 13-17 will be admitted for $8 and children 7-12 will be admitted for $6, which represents the same pricing as a weekly show.

Special event ticket pricing will apply to other ticket prices.  Grandstand admission will be $17 and senior citizens $15.  All pit passes will be $32.   Super Late Model entry fee will be $25, which will be deducted from final payoff from the track.  Pit gates will open at 4:30, with grandstands at 6:00 and racing at 7:30.   Pill draw cutoff and drivers meeting will be approximately 6:45.  Rain date for this event will be Sunday, June 14.

UFo Super Late Model teams please take note that the event a Port Royal will have an open brand, minimum hardness tire rule.   American Racer 44 or Hoosier 1300 or harder tires are required, with a minimum hardness of 32 on the track durometer.   All other UFo tire specifications apply.    Port Royal requires AMB (red) transponders.   Rentals are available at the track for $10.

Admission for the UFo “Tri-Star Sizzler” at Port Royal will be $20 for the grandstands and $7 for juniors 12-18.  All pit tickets will be $30.   The $25 Super Late Model entry fee will be deducted from final payoff.  Pit gates will open at 4:30 with grandstands at 5:00.  Drivers meeting an pill draw cutoff will be approximately 6:00, with warm-ups at 6:30 and racing at 7:00.

You can keep your pill draw events. Stupid format for higher paying shows.

Do you have any results? I shouldn't have to ask but Dog Hollow and the UFO don't live update like 90% of the other tracks and series do in 2015 and the era of modern technology.

Who wants an autograph?

Yes they usually do. All days leading up to the event, the day of the event, sometimes during the event and always promptly after the event. It led me to believe they cancelled.
