I to am disappointed that Mercer will be quiet again tonight but having talked with Frank Benic today he relayed some very valid reasons for this decision the most valid was the vast amount of rain fall this past few weeks and the fact there was 7 inches of water in the trash barrels. .

Racing fans are great people and deserve the best ,but so are those that provide this venue for our entertainment those being the owners ,promoters and racers themselves when races need to be canceled it is a difficult decision for all involved for  70 years I have learned to endure real hardship and also enjoy the good times, if we could only learn to see with the eyes of others why they make decisions we would be much happier.

If your life is free of trials and tribulations I am thankful but many times in this current time we live in we have become accustomed to having it our way and when it isnt that way we find someone or something to blame it on, notice I said we and that includes me and I am so sorry I have acted that way at times.

Before you condem Mercer via Frank, or Mr Altman may I tell you a couple things to consider 1 Frank spends along with his crew countless hours at the track in preperation for your pleasure, why not thank them and not condem them for rain they have no control over. 2. Mr Altman has invested his honestly earned dollars inthat track for you when he could have just spent a whole lot less just going to see races elswhere 3. In the last year and as recently as this week he has lost another sister to Cancer and his very close cousin John has had to undergo heart issues and is not able to be at the track . has Mr. Altman given up no has Frank Benic and his crew thrown in the towel hardly.

As for the fans that are quick to find fault with rain outs I ask one question why in all your infinite wisdom havent you controled the rain it would make everyone happy.

I still love my entire racing family and would choose no others to share my joy with rain or shine.

Well said Bill!!!   Have my fingers crossed for tomorrow at Tri-City!!  All this rain has to stop sometime, but we can all be very glad we don't live in Texas!!  Remember, someone always has it worse than we do!!!

GOOD RACING!!!

Walt

I am disappointed there is no racing tonight as well. I do believe Mercer has pulled the plug early on multiple occasions. However, in tonight's situation, I believe they made the correct call. There was rain forecasted for the entire night. It was basically a losing effort no matter what. I have noticed that the grounds around Mercer absorb water much easier than the grounds around Lernerville and Sharon. I don't want to make it seem like an excuse but i do believe that is one reason why Mercer cancels with less rain. But who knows. Just my thoughts.
