That might be the worst payout EVER!!!! I don't know much about the kart racing fraternity, but my guess would be you would get same or more karts if you pay $15,000 to win and made it a $1000 to start!!!! Take $35,000 and sprinkle it through the purse. For a $500 entry fee and you make the feature you would sure like to get your entry back.

Thats the way kart racing is. Most purses are top heavy. Most money races are winner takes all.

There's one born every minute. They are just giving them advance notice. How thoughtful.

It paid $15k to win 12 years ago- I was talking about it with French Grimes at the Grove shortly after, and he did not believe a kart race paid that much.

Such great memories.......

I love when people who don't own a track , and don't race a car always know best how the payout should be broken down lol

Woo ! I could probably make weight, not sure what karts tip the scales at. 5/6000 invested. Probably only have to out run kids 13 and above. A to be young again, not sure what they're entry numbers have been in the past I would not be surprised at 300 + Clone heavy karts showing up.

Legend, what is your entry fee to race at the World 100? Let me answer for you, ZERO!!!

The Dream is a $20,000 to win purse with $100,000K added on top for first. Second on back is a standard purse format for sanction style format. Now pay $500 entry fee, bust your ass to make the A-main, and finish 11th and get $200 back. This makes zero sense whether you are racing a go-kart, LM, bicycle, or whatever for a purse.

My guess is they get 300 to 400 of these karts for this event. So you are in 10% or less to make the A-main. So now you have to run in top 3% to get your entry money back. This is my point. I know there are other costs, when entry fees are involved, normally making the A-main you at least get your money back.

Please Mr. Legend let me know when you start promoting a race track? You appear to have a vast knowledge of promoting!!!

This is a pretty cool race. Hasty's take a huge risk but if you can win this one its as big as winning the dream at Eldora. I am planning on being there however I will be racing the 1000 to win class as I am way to heavy and don't spend near enough money to pull off the 50000. Definitely something to see though. If your ever looking to attend a kart race you would be very surprised. The competition will rival that of a WOO show.

you will not see many Saturday night racers enter the insane one. You will see the elite  like Donnie nall, shay chavous, tod miller, and the other well funded drivers enter this race. There are factory ran teams ,and teams with very big budgets that travel all over the country chasing the money shows. Yes some local level racers will enter the race, but more will enter the lesser paying races for a better chance of running up front.

Funding is not as much an issue in karting, as top notch equipment can be obtained for less than it costs to run a local street stock or pavement late modell, as AKRA rules and Burriss tires keep the costs in line.

The drivers you mentioned are great, along with Mike Dickerson and others. I'd lke to see Mike win this one as his crown jewel.

Kart racers can race lots of places for $1,000.00 to win every weekend within about a 5 hour drive; I see where Mike won a $5k race a couple of weeks ago.

Good luck to everyone.

I guess funding is all relative.  If you want to compete at this level, you're paying $3,300 for a chassis package and $1,200 for a motor (minimum).  The real cost for this race in particular is tires.  You think big car guys go through tires like crazy?  The top shelf guys that show up at a race like this will have, at minimum, 8-10 brand new sets of tires ready to bolt on and go at any time.  You're probably in the $3,000 - $4,000 range for those tires.  And that doesn't include the prep that goes into them during the week.

Karting is a very expensive sport when you get to this level.

I was actually just discussing with some racers your very point kart91. We also figured about 8-10 sets of 33's. Ten sets is probably3500 to 5,000 by the time you cut and prep and mount. (or so). It is however nice they limit it to 33'a only or the tire budget would be closer to 15,000 for this race.

Many years ago I was at a state race at peach state, in GA.  One racer had three roll out racks about 10' long and 5' high, all loaded top to bottom with mounted Maxis Blues only.  I stood there staring in disbelief until another racer walked by and said, "yeah and he won't sell you one of them".

I used to see Dickerson do the same thing, only with Burris.  They always looked like the racks that gyms use to hold basketballs, except filled with brand new tires.  Only difference is he would sell them to you.  He's one of the best ever from this part of the country, but as good of a guy as you could meet.  I'm just a local guy trying to keep up and he'd walk up to our trailer, sit down in one of our chairs and just start bs'ing with us.  Real good dude, great racer.

Haha! I happen to have a nice square tubing tire rack just like you described, free to anyone that wants it. (Greensburg) It's 5 rows, 6' high and about 15' long. I'll let you in on a secret; no matter how many tires you have in the trailer, it's the 4 on the kart that matter.

I call Obama aka bull$hit that someone could spend 15k on tires that they will use at one race. How many times do you even get on the track ??! 6 ? 10 at most ??? And 4 new tires every time is still 24-40 tires not hundreds like you guys are talking lol
