If MC would up the super late purse they may keep drawing some of the northern drivers down with the closing of Stateline and its future up in the air.

I agree, but you have a better chance of hitting the Powerball.

I know what you're saying......

But who would have ever thought they would be having a sanctioned late model race???

The only reason why a lot of Quality cars don't race there!  The worst payout in Superlatemodel racing!

I think Marion Center has a pretty stout field of area late models on a given Satruday night.  Are you expecting Chub Frank or touring racers to drop in there?  Be glad for the good field you have there, a few good Lernerville and Dog Hollow regulars, and now quite a few from up north since the demise of Stateline.

I agree Flash. MC is a track I enjoy attending due to that very fact. There is some real competitive regulars that race there every Saturday, and there always seems to be at least 1or 2 good cars from elsewhere that drop in.

The Reason I believe they don't get cars is

1.Track is terrible and has literally rocks coming out in turns 3 & 4. Kills Tires (Mostly 2 a night) and around 150$ a piece in case you don't know.

2. Judgment calls (instead of whoever spins they go to the back) and mostly 1 lane track come feature time.

3. Payouts aren't the best. 1000 roughly for late models and 500 for crates (since the AR deal) when you add in 2 tires, fuel that's anywhere from 8-13$ gallon if you aren't on a deal. You add anywhere from 20-50k in a motor for late model and anywhere from 5-9k for crate. And you add 25-30 to get in per pit pass. That's if you just come out of the night with no body, suspension, or any other damage.

The economics just don't add up sometimes on that type of track unless you get lucky and start up front after drawing good pills for redraw. Let alone economics on a decent track with any pay. People in grandstands, etc don't see how much money and time it actually takes to become competitive and finances of running and upkeep of a race car in general.

All it takes is a little effort, track prep, marketing, and organization and the track can Boom like the early 2000's. Let alone a one that's in the middle of EVERYWHERE and easy to get to off 119. That Marion Center is a gold mine and Diamond in the rough if the Management would just see it and put time into that place.

Yes  But....Marion Center has the least excuse for a poor payout!  The track has been family owned for 50 years!  There are no Rent or Mortgage payments there!  if any track could afford a decent payout...its them!  They just want to make all the money...and the Hell with the racers!

Marion Center gets more late models than any other Saturday night track in Western PA. Some weeks, they get more than the Friday night tracks too. What they pay is obviously fine. The track is what it is, and expecting it to change is absolutely retarded.

I wish you people could count and use a calculator .... Add up what comes in and subtract what goes out at local speedways and they are barely breaking even. And no matter what you think guys who quit racing aren't adding 40 bucks a spot to the pay out away from coming back ....

I walked that track back in 2013 at intermission, and I couldn't believe how bad the stones were poking through the surface. It is in desparate need of new clay.
