Two nights in a row and six out of the last 8 games against the Cardinals have gone extra innings. I don't understand why these owners don't just pick up another home run hitter or two. One more home run in each of the last two games would have gotten the fans out at a decent hour. If they would just spend some of the money they've been taking at the front gate and INVEST it back into the team for another power hitter they wouldn't have to hold the fans hostage for a couple of hours just to sell more hot dogs and nachos.

Don't the owners of this team care that SOME people have to get up for work in the morning?

I'll bet that the Galbreaths and Danny Murtaugh are rolling ove in their graves. It wasn't like this in the sixties and seventies when the owners CARED!

"Sarcasim" Walt. Read between the lines. Substitute any racetrack for the Pirates And Don Martin for the Galbreaths.

I think this is a tongue in cheek response to the complaints about PPMS as far as the facilities and the late hour. Now I could understand the comparison if at the pirate game they took 5 mins after every out to bring up the next batter or if sections of the seats were closed down for over 3 months.

I was at the game Thursday and the bathroom stunk like piss so bad I almost threw up. And then my wife two daughters and I get to our seats and they were soaked. They quit serving beer in the 7th inning around 9:30. Bars dont close till 2. Then the game was delayed for rain and when play resumed we lost. I couldn't get out of bed so was late to work Friday cause I had to walk 5miles carying a 5&7 year old because they built a venue for 60,000 people and only parking for 6,000. $8.75 for a beer $8 for supreme nachos that have nothing supreme about them. I spent $280 for a shitty night at the ball park. Man I wish I would have took my family to the race track.

If your attempting to compare Don Martin to other track operations. STOP. He set the mark very hi, and the results have shown that to this day. He also put a lot of his own dollars into what lernerville is today. I doubt that in the western pa. area few owners put the money resources into there venues that he did. I wonder what he would have thought about these forums. JMO.

That's all fine and good, but when someone builds a facility that can seat and serve 30k plus around here with the capital that Tony Stewart provides, what Slack does at Eldora is moot, especially as it relates to racing around here.

Don Martin built Lernerville; neither Stewart nor Slack had that mountain to climb with Eldora. The template for the success of Eldora had been already put in place years before by Earl Baltes. Stewart and Slack basically infused the place with money and new ideas. I'm not down playing what they've done. On the contrary, I applaud it. But let's compare apples to apples here. You can't say Tri-City sucks because the dirt track at Charlotte is 50 times better.

Don Martin's model is basically still in place and it still works. What Lernerville needs is some capital infusion and some new ideas. Hopefully the Tomson's will provide some of both.

What does photography have to do with this? Is that a shot at me? If you want to compare or complain about the short track photography situation in 2015 vs the earlier days please start your own thread.

What I did was post a sarcasrtic, tounge in cheek comment showing a comparison between one of the most successful sports franchises in the country and any number of small race tracks, and many other entertainment venues which could be located anywhere in the country.

I'm sure that there are more than a few fans who leave PNC park with their own list of complaints and ideas about how management could make the experience better for them. "They should have started earlier, the should spend a few bucks and get another mid relief pitcher, power hitter, the Nachos were too cold, too hot etc, etc."

One huge difference is that the stick and ball fans do have an investment into these venues with the use of taxpayer money funding the venue, not so with privately owned race tracks, ammusement parks, movie theaters etc.

The Pirates didn't cancel the game because it went to late, leave a group of guys unpaid, and basically tell them to get bent because they aren't important enough.

And then not to mention belittle said group because they didn't spend enough money on their engine when that money they spent in that engine is more than your overstuffed cheeseburger eating dick sucker has put into your piece of shit facility in 15 years.

   The rebel flag is offensive,  the Washington redskins are offensive,  but in Pittsburgh the pirate flag is flown proudly.  To honor criminals,  cutthroats, thieves, and outlaws.

I went to the All Star race and had nothing but good things to say, and had all intentions on going back for the next All Star race and possibly the Pittsburgher. But if you are gonna disrespect and treat your drivers like that, f*ck you, you aren't getting a nickel from me.

If the Pirate owners didn't have enough money to sustain a profitable business they would be smart enough to sell and get out.  There have been 2 people who wanted to buy PPMS and invest in it (which us supporters have deserved for years) and the Mileys insist on running the place into the ground until there is nothing left and it closes.

I don't think anyone could say the racing is bad, however the small stuff that should be simple to fix just never happens. Where could we start? The road going into the grandstands is like going off road racing. How about using the ol grader and trying to make it flat and level? How about the weeds growing all along the wall? Get the weedwhacker and take care of it. How about getting the turn 1 stands open? I mean it's been 3 months and it doesn't look like they have even started. Feel free to add on to the list.

Maybe hit those massive ruts entering the pits where you come off the track with the grader ...

Right on.

It's bad enough that the facility is literally falling apart. What more is to be expected out of 60 plus year old equipment? Then, you have to put up with the bullshit smartass owners passing some off color comments because racers that are there to support your track bitch because they get screwed. Then people like Frank wonder why even hard core fans like me won't go there anymore, even though it is the closest track for me to attend on a Saturday evening.

And an md3 nose costs more than any work that I've seen done to the track in recent times.
