FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Miley Storms to $3,000 UFo Win at “Connor Bobik Make-A-Wish Race” at Dog Hollow!
By Dave Kittey

(Strongstown, PA) Jared Miley became the 7th different winner in 7 races on the 2015 UFo Championship Circuit by winning the 5th annual “Connor Bobik Make-A-Wish Race” at Dog Hollow Speedway Sunday night.  The race returned to its birthplace after two years at America’s Motorsports Park.  The Bobik family raised over $7,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation with this event.

Jared “the Jet” Miley capped off a three-peat weekend after winning $3,000 in the 41-lap Connor Bobik Memorial for the UFo Super Late Models sponsored by Townsend Gas & Oil at the track. Miley, who started eighth, quickly shot into the lead on lap three. Michael Altobelli led the opening two laps before falling back to second.

Once out front Miley showed why he is called the jet as he soared away from the back and started lapping cars on lap 17. After a lap four caution the race went 23 straight laps before the second yellow appeared. On the restart Altobelli had nothing for the South Park driver. Miley again began to pull away until a couple more cautions were thrown. Scott Rhodes took second away from Altobelli after a restart on lap 31.   Rhodes had two chances to overtake Miley on double file restarts on laps 34 and 36, but could not muster enough power to catch the high flying Miley.

Behind Miley and Rhodes were Dan Angelicchio, 10th starting Devin Friese and 11th starting Dylan Yoder. Sixth through tenth were Dan Stone, 12th starting Justin Kann, Altobelli, 14th starting Dwayne Taneyhill and George Lee.

Heats for the 30 car field went to Charles Powell, Jr., Altobelli, Miley and Friese. Andrew Wylie won the B-Main.  Once again the top four UFo point contenders finished within four positions of each other as Friese leads Kann, Yoder and Altobelli in the tightest point battle in UFo history.

The next UFo Championship event will be back at Dog Hollow Speedway on Friday, August 7.  The “Sam Barley Championship” will pay $3,000 to win for a 41 lap UFo Super Late Model feature.

A change in the UFo provisional procedure will begin at this event.  A driver must have 50% event attendance during the season to be eligible for a UFo provisional.   If no drivers are eligible, the next driver(s) in the consolation will fill in the field.

So UFO, who sanctions late model races, is supposed to include sprints in their press release? When was the last time you saw the WoO or Lucas include sprint or street stock results in their press releases?

Its up to the track PR person to put results on here!!   This was a UFo release.  The Dog Hollow release did include the Sprints, but apparently they do not post their releases here.  Some tracks do and others don't.

Billy Dietrich won the Sprint race over Carl Bowser, Brandon Spithaler and A. J. Flick.  Only 16 cars, less than the weekly shows last week at both Lernerville & Mercer.

GOOD RACING!!!

They did no promotion for the sprint car portion. Many drivers weren't even aware of the race until it was too late. I'm a diehard fan and I knew nothing of this race. If people don't know about it, they can't attend it. Race tracks are shooting themselves in the foot by not embracing social media more.

It is kind of curious that Copeman and Blose didn't show and that Max Blair won at Marion Center Saturday night but didn't stay in the area for the bigger show but I don't know what other cars you expected to be there that weren't.
Maybe Nick Dickson who was high in UFO standings and Keith Barbara.

Hardly a higher paying race except for the first couple cars!  They pay $250 on a normal night for 10th!  They paid $300 for tenth Sunday.  Now lets subtract the Entry fee and extra $10.00 to get into the pits and your right back at $250.00.  I would estimate it cost the average team about $900.00 to run that show!  More for the Big boys!  They put more new tires on!  The Sprint payout was the same as the Latemodels!  Doesn't like Port, the Grove and Lincoln all pay like $3500.00 on a regular night to win? So not mush of a drawing card for those down east teams.  But all in all a nice show!  Plenty of good cars in all divisions!  And lets face it...racing is about loosing money for the race teams!  So I will give it a thumbs up!

You say it costs you 900 to run a 30 lap race ... So is your position that tracks should pay 900 in tow money ??

It was pretty cool for this memorial race to raise $7000+ in Connor's name. Make-a-wish gives kids with life threatening illnesses some moments of happiness. As a family member of a Wish receiving family I've seen firsthand how this charity helps families.

Happy Racing

Not at all!  Not complaining about anything!  Just pointing out that other than the top spots...It didn't pay any or much more than a regular 25 lap event!  I beleive this was 41 laps for the Supers!  So i think I am spot on cost to run the show for average teams!  I do think a $3,000.00 to win race should pay $300.00 to start!  and $150.00 DNQ....Like they did at Port!  I think it would of made a big difference in the turn out!  I heard of several regular weekly teams didn't go because of the cost verses payout factor!  Lets face the facts...Dog hollow is drawing a nice field of weekly cars!  Why??? because he raised the payout to a reasonable level!  Thats all I ever ask of any of these promotors!  Be reasonable and I think DMS is being reasonable, and it is paying off for him!  Would of been nice to see a little stronger purse....but I am sure he did what he could!  No complaints here!
