Just because a track has cars and fans doesn't mean it's making a killing .... Lots of business have been busy and lost money

First time you and I may agree on something!  Ferd Walace paved it because James Hylton(His friend and Nascar Racer) talked Him into it!  Why...because it wasn't makeing money as a dirt track!  Will not argue that it has had a couple strong points(races/seasons) here and there!  But you can't have one good year and three bad and still stay in business!  Wrong Location!  Same thing with Jennerstown!  Everyone forgets it was closed for two seasons before it was paved!  And Motordrome!  I can still show you several bad checks 30 some years later from two different promotors there!  Latrobe/Smuckers  Ive seen it have three different promotors in one season...then closed for twenty years! Why do you think the Schmuckers sold it to Teslovich in 1976??It was on thier Family farm property!  But made no money! Neither Don or Piney ever made money in the racing business!  It was thier Hobby!  They loved racing and were wealthy men that could afford it!  The only track that I am sure makes money is MarionCenter!  Family owned for fifty years on the Family farm!  Run by the family and pays a Low Purse!  I guess thats how you make money in the racing business!

The ceiling at CNB isn't that high. If it was, the place would be able to stay open for more than a year or two at a time. The location is awful.

Awful location, wtf? It's 5 minutes from 80. There is not a bad seat in the stands or the hill. I'll say this, you can see better there than Eldora. The complex is huge. Were there when they had the big late model show that bloomquist won? That place was packed. Tons of parking, tons of seating. The reason they have not been successful is the lack of leadership and a long term plan for the track. The worst decision they ever made was paving that place. Look what happened after they put asphalt down. Hidden valley, hummingbird, dog hollow, challenger, thunder Mountain all opened after they paved. That's atleast 5 race tracks that tried to fill the void. Now you're left with low car counts and 2 of the tracks are out of business. The market is saturated and there are not enough cars to go around. In the region you've got marion center, hummingbird, thunder Mountain, lernerville, ppms, tri-city, raceway 7, eriez, stateline, dog hollow, sportsmans, smethport, heston, mercer, Sharon. That's far too many race tracks and not enough race cars.
