Neither track in Clearfield has been able to stay open for any length of time. It's clearly not an area that can support a race track.

If any one wants to open that place up again they should be made to take a phyciatric evaluation.

If anyone has that much time and money, please help an existing track. We don't need another.

BaconBits, I can tell you are not from this area.   Our area has housed a bulk of the field for a couple tracks over the years.  Look at Hummingbird.   76 cars, and 31 were from a 10 miles radius of Clearfield.   MCS had another 11 on the same night.   Hidden Valley drew in cars from 100miles away on a weekly basis, and both the street stock and late model points champs over the years towed better than 75 miles each week.   Hidden Valley excelled at a time when Hummingbird, TM, and Dog Hollow were still coal mines and fields.   This area has no problem supporting a dirt track, and the fan counts weekly at Amp were no different than any other local track.

What our area doesn't have is stability.  The paved track changes management as often as they change socks.  The dirt track hasn't had a stable owner since the Luziers built it.   If you ever notice, the busiest breakfast places don't always have the best coffee and food.   They have comradery and atmosphere.   They have people complaining every morning about the stale coffee and how much they are getting screwed at the pump.   I guarantee you do not see that kind of following at the places that are always changing owners, or closing down every couple years.     Our area is not a fan of change.   They would rather "drink the stale coffee" at some of the other tracks, than chance something better that might be gone in a year or so.    Your friends are there, your family gets comfortable, and $600 to win, is better than the $800 you may never see.  Fans are not always weekly followers, many just go because its something to do on a Saturday night, and they know its an entertainment option.

Unfortunately no one has ever looked at Clearfield with a long term vision.   Its always a "get rich quick" and get out!

The current tracks are so bogged down with negativity that I doubt they will ever been looked at as anything more than a joke.

Well put.  Other than the micro sprints, I think the longest tow to Hummingbird is Tim Krape from all the way over in Bellefonte! Local cars and local fans gives Hummingbird no reason to change a thing.
