I read that the parents of the man Stewart it is suing, they hired a lawyer whose name is Mark Lanier, I wrote Mr Lanier, I hope others write him as well. Here is what I said....

..It is a sad day when one learns the parents of a man who climbs out of his race car then deliberately runs in front of another race car sues the innocent driver of the other car. I pray they have to pay Stewart's legal bills plus.

 Shame on this action!

I didn't read any of the particulars, but I'm guessing these people figure Stewart will settle out of court, out of some sense of guilt (which I don't feel is warranted, but that I understand), to bring closure to all involved, and because I'm sure Stewart's lawyers will advise him that a pre trial settlement will be the cheaper alternative. Having said that, I hope Stewart goes to court, for the very fact that I don't think he did a damn thing wrong, and Kevin Ward Jr's family needs to deal with the fact that their sons death was a tragic accident brought on by his own lapse in judgement.

While I understand the family's grief and couldn't imagine having to deal with it myself, their public actions and statements about Tony ever since the accident have been completely classless. And filing the lawsuit exactly one year after just to get media attention just adds to that. I have the feeling Tony will settle just so his name doesn't get dragged through the mud anymore, but that family doesn't deserve a dime. The worst part about the whole lawsuit is that it's clearly just a money grab.

Well said Skull & 33!!!   I don't have much to add. I thought that the Ward family realized their son was smoking pot and they didn't have much to stand on for a lawsuit.  But I guess they are hoping Tony will settle out of court and give them a big bunch of money.   SAD!!!!

We all sign a release at the pit gate. What's up isn't that a signed contract? I know this is probably a civil suit but still just a bad accident.

Their are loop holes in those things to. You could say you had a few beers in the parking lot when you signed that pit pass and never knew what it said, ect

Your case would be dismissed. The guy at Williams grove said he did not read the waiver and lost.

Everyone forgets about the many LAWYERS that have probably been beating that families doors down. Telling them, THIS IS WHAT I CAN GET FOR YOU. After the lawyers take there 40% it's easy to see why people are lawsuit happy anymore.

Its a shame these people just cant accept it was an accident caused by the victim himself. It sucks to say but the guy should have stayed in his car and he would have lived to race another day.

It would not surprise me if Stewart files a defamation lawsuit against them. I'm pretty sure it would be an easy win as he was exonerated of any wrong doing. I hope he doesn't settle with them. Those people don't deserve a dime. I feel for them, but ultimately it comes down to this, if he stays in the car, he lives.
