FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Miley Wins 2nd Consecutive UFo Race at Dog Hollow at “Sam Barley Championship!”

By Dave Kittey

(Strongstown, PA) STRONGSTOWN, PA (August 7, 2015) – Dog Hollow Speedway honored late car owner Sam Barley in the UFo “Sam Barley Championship” for the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models. South Park’s Jared Miley took the lead from Scott Rhodes on lap 31 to score his second win at Dog Hollow.

The 41-lap “Sam Barley Championship” was led to the green by front row starters Scott Rhodes and Jared Miley. Three time winner Rhodes out powered Miley to take the lead as the green flew. Rhodes kept Miley in his rear view mirror and even began to pull away through three cautions. Miley caught back up in lapped traffic and the pair waged a battle royal going side by side for many laps. Finally lapped traffic allowed Miley to take the lead away on lap 31.

Miley pulled out to a straightaway lead leaving Rhodes to battle Dylan Yoder and Devin Fries. A final yellow appeared on lap 39 for a slowing Keith Barbara, who had ran in the top five most of the race. Miley chose the inside for the double file restart giving the outside to Rhodes. Rhodes had won all the restarts from the outside leaving the fans wondering. The pair raced into turn one door to door but as they headed down the back straight Miley powered to the front leading the final two laps to score his second straight UFo Late Model win at Dog Hollow Speedway.

Rhodes settled for second over Dylan Yoder (from 8th), Devin Friese (from 11th) and Mike Altobelli. Sixth through tenth were Chad Hollenback, Rick Singleton, Dwayne Taneyhill, Waylon Wagner and Ron Delano, Jr.

Qualifying heats for the 31 car field were won by Justin Kann, Andrew Wylie, Coleby Frye and Keith Barbara. The B-Main was won by Mike Blose. Dwayne Taneyhill picked up a $100 bonus for being the hard charger.

UFo returns to Dog Hollow on Saturday, August 29 for the “Flyin’ Floyd Kline Klassic” memorial race.  This event will pay $3,000 to the winner.

Your run down from the feature is wrong. Dan Stone came off the track. John Myers finished right on Dan Lee's bumper for 13th spot.

This was the finish given by the scorers which the drivers also give sognature after the race. If there is ever a scoring protest, rules state it must be done at the track.

The race was 41 laps. Stone was in the lap 39 restart and did complete lap 40 then went off. Myers may have been a lap down (would have to verify with scoring). If so, the higest position for cars a lap down goes to the car that completed 40 laps first which would be Stone.

Not the point. If he did earn 13th then he should get credited for it. With him being a lap down he moved to 14th no big deal just wanted to make sure.
