I hear the question often, how can they ship something from Asia to the US, and still beat us price wise?   The blame always gets pointed in various directions, but the most recent reports I received are shattering.   The  recent Shanghai Containerized Freight index lists the monthly FEU, which is the rate per 40' container, the most common way goods are imported into the country.

Last month, the average into Long Beach CA from Shanghai China was $1518 per container for a 6,494 mile trip.    The equivalent of 42,500lbs of goods, costs a mere $ .23 per mile to make the trip.

Based upon market rates, that same container if leaving Long Beach CA and heading to say Pittsburgh via Union Pacific Rail, would cost about $ 1.27/per mile at 2,439 miles, or $3105.00.

My point is this, for each most of the items you purchase, it costs roughly $ .11/ per pound to come from China to Pittsburgh.   This does not count any tariffs, etc, but rather straight transportation costs only

Now you have the answer to "how can they ship it from china so cheap and still make $$?"

Im sorry Walt, I forgot that unless you are posting a useless press release, putting someone down, belly aching about a track, or generally fighting about something, then you have no business on this site.  Am I correct?

Crate engines are GM parts. GM parts commonly come from China these days. So he's just explaining another example why crate racing is so much cheaper. Lol

Why not make this topic turn to crates too?

Trophies are made in China; anyone that runs a crate gets a trophy.

All I know is an 2015 Nike NFL jersey at Dick's costs $199. That same jersey costs $23 from Shanghai.

Who wants an autograph?

Most of the cost of professional sports memorabilia is not the cost of the goods but the cost of licensing. The $23 jerseys are bootleg (counterfeit) and no licensing paid.

Why do they need a listening?

Why do they need a listening?

Because, the teams, the league, the players own the rights to the logos, images etc. And they sell the rights to use those for commercial gain.

Not only do the parts come from China, but a ton of GM's crate engines are assembled in Mexico. They're multicultural.
