A jr sprint is the son of a sr sprint. Sorry man i could not pass on that one. Really a jr sprint is on the same line as as a micro sprint, maybe a little larger. From the pictures i have seen they look almost alike. Maybe someone else can explain it better.

Walt is correct.... jr. Sprint can be a kart class and I believe Hyper makes one. Pretty sure size range of a midget, maybe slightly bigger, powered by 4 cyl. I think. Someone out by pa jersey line runs them.

If you are referring to the division at mercer, They use the same frame as a 270 micro with a Honda 9 h.p industrial motor on the right side. They primarily run them at deerfield raceway.

Wes is correct. It is a division for kids 10 - 14 I think. Rod Jones (Jones Performance), paid for them to be part of The Little Guy Nationals. So Frank Benic added them.

This division is an entry level class for kids(8 to 15).  Running at Mercer gives the class more exposure.  I have seen these kids race and they put on a good show.  Don't understand how someone could say something bad about these kids racing.

rocket51......I don't see where I said anything bad about them!!  I didn't even know what they were!!   That said, I'll still stick with my original thought that we don't need any more classes!!  Most area tracks have too many and the shows often run too late.  Good to have a class for kids, but a small track like Deerfield is where they belong!!

GOOD RACING!!!!

Walt is right, I have been to every Little Guys, and they get good car counts, and run very late every night, why add another class to make it longer?? Isn't way after midnight a little late for

a 8 year old?? A regular show would have been better to introduce a new class.  More back gate????

First, no one "paid" to have this class added.  A lot of fans asked for it.

Second, are you all really telling me that adding a 6-10 minute race to the program is going to hurt?  I'm fairly certain the parents of these younger racers are smart enough to make a decision on a bed time for their child.  Maybe they should look at car counts and see who has a better showing and cut accordingly.

Not true at all.  No one paid for them.  Ages are 8-15 also.  Just an FYI

There are sponsors, and several of them, but to say someone paid for them to be added is untrue

Yeah its all about the back gate, heck they are not even offering a 2 day deal for the pits... even if it was a few dollars cheaper would have been nice.... I know Sharon did for their 2 day show...

Your telling me that the "fans" requested them? That is so funny because Walt Wimer, probably the most informed and up-to-date dirt track follower did not even know what they were, but yet the "fans" are asking for them to be run.....GET THE FLIP OUTTA HERE....

Apparently he is not as informed as you think.  Yes, there are a lot of local kids that race and a lot of families and friends who want to see them.  Who cares if its about the "back gate".  The last I checked this was not a non profit.

So tell me again how a 10 minutes race is going to put a wrench in your plans?  Its unreal to me that so called "race fans" are so outspoken about kids.  But I will stand by my original comment... check the car counts and cut where there isn't one to support.  After all it is a BUSINESS.

First of all, I am trying to keep an open mind regarding this class. I checked the Deerfield Raceway website to learn more about the class. I don't know what you call a "lot" of people, but the results show Deerfield gets around 12 weekly according to the Deerfield website. There's like 19 cars total in the season long points. If Jones Performance was not paying to sponsor the class, I seriously doubt they would be part of the show. We will see how it goes. The class is not going to have a following outside their immediate family like the regular divisions at Mercer. How will fans react? Let's wait and see. What car does you kid drive racer 296?

3799 I can respect that.  You have done some research.  There are about a half dozen cars new to the area who will be there.  Also, there is a reason why the car counts are low at Deerfield.  Whether it be attitude or safety, I wont speak for anyone because I am not 100% sure.   If you look at Mercers Website and LGN Press release there are several sponsors.  JP is one of them, but not the main nor the sole sponsor. , I guess I just don't understand why it is such a big deal... why dog a class before you even see it?  I'm not saying you, but in general.  Maybe it is something I will never understand.
