Wonder if any of the west Pa., east Oh. cars and drivers are going to Syracuse? Also for that matter, how many  Racestuders  will be there to see the last race events at the N.Y. State Fairgrounds.

I've been invited to take one of my vintage (RU 21) cars up, so if you want to stop and say hello, or take a swing at me, I'll be there.

I think shingledecker (sp) is going. Dave Blaney is driving the 74 Smith Brothers car

I don't think the 74 that Blaney is driving is actually owned by the Smith Brothers. I beleieve they got out racing at the end of 2014, which left Tim Fuller without both a late model and modified ride. I'm almost positive the car is actually owned by Halmar International and just "sponsored" by the Smith Brothers and is one of the many throwback schemes teams are going with this year. Matt Hearn is going to be his crew chief and Gary Balough had a hand in designing the rather radical front end on the car.

I was looking at the pictures and this though came to me.  The covering of the engine, could be an air foil standing vertically but leaning some top towards the right, from the driver forward maybe even to the shocks, to pull the car towards the inside of the track and downward.  Looks like all effort is to hold the front end down splitting air flow, I'm thinking make the split air flow, have to travel faster on the inside on it's way through the car.

That wouldn't be legal. Nose and hood has to be symetrical.  And Syracuse is the one time a year where they go over your car with a fine tooth comb. For instance, Jeff Heotzler showed up with a MD3 UMP/USMTS modified nose on his car, and it took two days of messing with it before it passed tech.

Yeah, but it'll be from turn two to turn three. The pits themselves pretty much take up the whole front stretch.

True, but they won't let you on the cinder track without a pit pass and maybe a special "photographer's pass!!!   To really get good photos one needs to get out on the cinder track and they keep those numbers down.

You're right, but I'm not sure you can even get a press pass for the cinder track on the backstretch. I can't recall ever seeing anybody but track officials on it.

With a modern camera, just getting up against the fence on the backstretch should be able to get decent shots. Not perfect, but decent.
