I googled it and this is what was returned:

Seems like the BOSS rule of "If it looks like a sprint car bring it", is working out well and racers like open racing without the buy this and that to be allowed to race. They've grown to having I think 68 cars show up at Eldora for the end of the year sprint festivities.
I think I heard right under the grandstands at the BOSS Lernerville rain out, that a BOSS winged series is coming in 2016. I think from the growth of the BOSS series, proof has been given that racers and fans want OPEN racing and not the bull reach into their pockets, speck this and buy that.

Wouldn't it be great for sprint racing and racing in the area, if BOSS picked up someone to work the winged series and maybe together they might even open a track to run weekly both BOSS non winged and winged cars? ...
Racers and fans would get their first open sprint track, which could become a base for expanding "If it looks like a sprint car bring it". ...
... how about open Winged Sprint cars in 2016 at Lernerville Friday nights, supporting a new open Sprint track running on Saturdays? Now that Lernerville is not Dirt for 2016, wouldn't open Winged sprint racing put more fans in the stands? They were called and were "Super Sprints" at tracks around here, before Dirt dumbed them down. Wouldn't it be nice to hear the low roar of "430's" under the hood again, if that's what a racer would choose to race?
Might the introduction again of "Super Sprints" at Lernerville, off set some of the grief brought to the stocks, by having speck crammed down their throats and picked from their pockets?

The Ohio Sprint Bandits was a group from western Ohio. Tri City Speedway selected OSB rules over Hickory rules meaning they were starting with no participation by some 20 to 25 existing local cars. Car count never grew and the division died here and later died in Ohio despite having good car counts there for years. This happened in the late 1990's.What is/are the Ohio Sprint Bandits? Thanks....

Yes!!! The BOSS is Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series and don't think has any connection to that earlier series for limited engine cars.
GOOD RACING!!!

What is a modern spread bore. I small block upgraded to just about but not quite a 430 does roar in a lower tone, compared to the standard 410 roar. I want to say you can get 428 plus some out of a small block. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can explain what needs done. Or your young and seem to have a good memory, you may already know and can explain it to myself and others on here?.

Block Chevy has a 4.4" bore spacing center to center. The spread bore stuff is 4.5" this allows you to run a 4.25" pinston instead of a 4.125" which requires a smaller crank stroke for the same displacement. Piston speed is what kills motors and makes the redline of a 4" stroke motor hundreds of rpm less than a 3.5" stroke motor .... So with a 4.5 you get higher redline for a wider power band as well as unshrouding the valves which allows greater air flow .... More air = more power .... Sprint cars have basically universal rules coast to coast ... Why on earth would you recommend changing that ????

BOSS did not change any rules, it got rid of rules. And the number of RACERS wanting to compete grew from few to 68 cars at Eldora this year. It's the opposite of speck this, mandate that, join and cow down to the powers to be to race.
Isn't what most don't like of the goal of crates being used the same from coast to coast in everything, the mandating of how much is taken from your pocket by promoters demanding you cow down to their rules? The big car count stock races are when someone says bring it what ever it is, we will see who's the fastest and you'll get paid a decent amount to show up. I'm probably wrong about the numbers, but the other thing attractive about the BOSS is they started out paying like $300 to start. Rich and poor alike, like those numbers.
This fan likes to watch open racing, dirt, asphalt, water or dragstrip. I'd really like to see front wheel drive cars opened up to let racers have fun and to be able to present their ideas of how to make them go fast on the track. I'd like to see front wheel drive rules of, must be front wheel drive only, wheel base limit, 4 cylinder limit and let them race. Maybe even have a big front wheel drive class or 6 cylinders. Those rules, some safety rules and let them race wing or no wing, open wheel or closed; what ever ends up fast will be what wins and what other racers will rule on what follows.

I was witness to a truly open class way back when at East Windsor. They ran small block modifieds that were basically anything goes. The entire rule "book" was about 20 lines, and ten of those lines were NJ safety regulations. It resulted in some really wild creations, but after a while, it became a field full of alchohol injected small blocks on drag rubber that weighed around 1800 lbs. they went from having really full fields to 10-12 cars weekly, long before the economy tanked. Ultimately, the track closed for a number of reasons, but a lack of racer support (and directly proportional, fan support) was one of the main reasons.
The cars got way, way too expensive to build and maintain.
And for what it's worth, the racing with the open rules wasn't any better than the racing with the more strict rules that were the norm everywhere else.
Also, you keep comparing winged and non-wing sprints. The two divisions are totally different as far as how much power you can hook up, and that directly correlates to how much power you build into the motor, and we all know that power costs money. Tons of it.

The W.Ohio 360's are very much alive and well.Weekly shows at Lima and specials everywhere out there have made them a strong and viable group.I think they had six specials at Eldora alone this year. They get up to Michigan too.Very good racing in this bunch-better than BOSS. They bring plenty of cars and they run for good money too.360's doing very good in Western,Ohio-305's too!

I am not impressed with the BOSS shows, at least when they made their showings at Mercer and or Sharon, especially the last few years....JMO
