What do you want him to do? He was leading and was hands down the fastest car at that point in the race and clowns running last take him out. Why would he need to stay while they hook the car to the wrecker? I'm pretty sure they will find his hauler in the pits. You can't blame him for being a little angry. Those guys don't belong on the race track.Yea King was a class act. Gets out of his car, doesn't take his helmet off, has a few words to say. Then leaves his car sit there and walks into the pits. YEA CLASS ACT. Guys that pull that stuff should be DQ'D and not paid. There was no reason to just let the car sit in the middle of the track.

You're joking right? He was still in 3 when those two hit the wall. If he had any business being out there why did push that far into the wall with that much time to change his line? Yeah, the track was that slick. He's one of those clowns who thinks that the whole rest of the track needs to just clear off of the track to make way for him. He's hit harder than that on purpose. The track staff had no problem moving the car. A real driver would have restarted the car and rejoined the race. He and the rest of the dirty Kings should be invited to never show up again.

I usually refrain myself from even posting on racestud anymore but I had to on this thread. For you to say the cars that wrecked (69 and 75) took Russ King out is an untrue statement. Watch the video yourself, Russ was coming into 3 when the 69 hit the wall. The 75 had nowhere to do because the 3D drove him into the wreck then Russ came in full blast never even lifted. Nobody goes out there to destroy their car or other peoples equipment. I happen to be friends with the driver of the 75 and I know he is not out there to wreck or cost the leader the race. As far as calling them clowns in the back, we should appreciate anyone who uses their OWN MONEY and TIME to field a car to go out and race. Not everyone can be the next Bloomquist but I enjoy watching everyone who goes out and gives me as a fan a show to watch. Without these people you would have 10 cars to watch race instead of the 24 who were there yesterday. This message board is a small sampling of what the issue is in the world today. Everyone wants to b*tch and complain and put others down. I want to thank everyone who showed up this past weekend to give me the fan a show to watch.

Russ's car was not bad at all. Just sheet metal and door bar. he is one of those drivers that if he gets in to a wreck, doesnt want to race and just load it up instead of coming through the back of the field.

I'm sure they're not. I just don't like dirty racing, and it's what they do. I'm not the only one who feels that way either, but I'm sure they don't care a bit what any of us think. They don't seem to be too concerned about stuff like how their actions impact others.

I don't know about Saturday, but they sure aren't afraid to do more than just lean on other drivers on Fridays. Russ has pushed Pegher to the wall more than once, and I don't remember the specifics of the mods, but there have been incidents where they weren't going to get by someone so they moved them the hard way, and if it was just once, or just close racing I wouldn't have a problem, everybody loses their cool sometimes, or just plain slides wrong, but I've seen them do their share of passing with the nerf bar.

I was sitting just above where the 69 car came to rest. Through out the year and even on into the start of Fall at Lernerville the sun can go down and shine on drivers eyes early in the season going into turn three, and later after they enter three. Putting tape up top on the drivers rock screen is always an automatic consideration at Lernerville in hot laps, heat races and also if your in the first feature.
If you watch the start of you can see the sun shining on the Section C rail.
At 11:09 in the video when the 69 car is resting against the wall, you can see the sun is still shining on the rail of Section C and track.
When that race started I automatically noticed how bright the sun was on the cars in the back stretch and became concerned about driver visibility. I looked for the sun over my left shoulder where I'd normally expect it to be if we were racing and there was no sun where I expected it to be. I then looked over my right shoulder for it and saw it shining bright from over the top of the control tower. I instantly realized the drivers would not have a problem going into turn three, but might have a sun problem between 3 and 4 and maybe even coming off of 4.
The 69 car was out of the way up long ways against the wall and the yellow car towards the rear of it was sticking some down onto the track. I'm pretty sure it was the yellow car the 65 hit, not the 69 car. You all can get on my case about this next comment but I think the most likely thing for the driver of the 65 to say to the driver of the 69 exiting the track, was I couldn't see. I think that's possible because there was no contact between the 65 and 69. At the time of the incident with the 69, the yellow car and maybe one other, the 65 was probably entering or just into turn 3 and did not see what happened.
A few months back a sprint car got stuck in the pit fence after jumping the cushion entering turn 3. It was during a heat race, the track was fast and the car was up running around the top, I'd bet the reason for that crash was sun in the sprint drivers eyes.
I think it's also possible part of the reason for the Supers to be running around the top early on through 3 and 4, was not just because it was the fastest way around. I think also being able to feel the track better around the top because of the sun problem through 3 and 4, may have also helped drivers to move up top. But I'm not a driver, I was not on the track and all is just a guess about that and if the sun was really a factor through 3 and 4. I've never raced a car but I have experienced being on a kart going down the back stretch and into turn 3 when you could not see at all. I remember seeing nothing but the tops of helmets bobbing up and down like ping pong balls bobbing in the water, and aiming where I was going totally by the feel of the left side tires on the inside edge of the track. It's not scary just the way it is unless you happen to bump into a ping pong ball. ...
edit: I just went back to the video and if you look at 00:33 into the video, it appears the 56 does have tape across the top of the rock screen. When I look closer at the video it also appears even though the tape is there, the sun is shining on the top of the drivers helmet. Looking at the video to support what I wrote above, I can say because of what looks like tape and the sun on the helmet that sun definitely was a factor in that race. Weather or not it was a contributing factor to the 56 being damaged, only the driver of the 56 knows.
Lucky me being retired and not having anything better to do then to have my morning coffee, write on here and head out to the kitchen for a second cup. Life is good enjoy it. ...

When you're racing on a track that has a cushion, but is slick everywhere else, it's nearly impossible to get your car to turn down off of the cushion once you're in the turn. I was sitting in turn 4 as well, and it looked to me like Russ tried turning down off the cushion, but couldn't get the car down off of it in time, hence the reason it was his right rear that hit the 75 car, because he had the nose turned down, but the track was too slick to make the car actually turn. Like Dirtstudent said, sun may also be a factor, when you're coming off of turn 4 and there are cars in front of you, the sun lights the dust up like fog and you can't really see anything. Either way it's unfortunate anytime you see someone wreck while leading. I didn't go over and look at his car after that, but I'd venture to say there was a lot more than sheet metal damage. Late Models don't take a hit like that and not bend/break something.
